We stay in Top Four!
Both Arsenal and Liverpool lose points. A match Liverpool should have won by at least 2 goals. Arsenal played poorly and were lucky to fetch a point at Anfield tonight. The ideal result from our perspective. So, we stay at No.4 in the table. Is this the defining weekend of the season for Chelsea?
The problem is Man Utd is getting stronger by the day and I think they’d surely beat Arsenal next week which would put them ahead by some margin. For now, we should be happy with this weekend’s outcomes!
Look at that goal difference of Chelsea! Not bad, I’d say!

The game of passion, endurance, sportsman spirit and fortitude is what called american football. The history of the game is decorated by many superb teams like atlanta falcons, buffalo bills, Chicago bears etc. As super bowl 2008 is going to held in Phoenix Arizona in February, people are becoming enthusiastic to cheer their teams. Supporters of many teams like baltimore ravens, Carolina panthers have already booked hotels to enjoy the game and support their teams.
I am happy that the Liverpool v Arsenal match ended in a draw. Chelsea aren’t that far off Arsenal and Man Utd.
If Chelsea can just concentrate on the EPL, instead of the CL we can still win the league.
I saw the game..Great match..
I wanted to see Liverpool win..not beacuse I love them or anything..simply because a loss would have helped slow down arsenal a lill bit..
Arsenal is a rhytym sort of team..they keep flowing along..A loss would have certainly upset that rhythm n they would have definitely dropped a few more points over the coming weeks..
Liverpool has to get rid of Benitez if they ever want to win the EPL..he played kuyt as a winger today…man that guy lacks common sense…
Voronin n Kuyt as wingers with an off color Torres up front..What was he thinking???..Liverpool should thank Gerrard for the point earned today
Benitez has one of the the best squads in England at his disposal n hes screwing it up
Arsenal played very well..Fabregas too good..I dont know how arsenal will do If Fabregas gets injured or anything
Hey Everybody
Does anybody know where is footballguy, did he pass away or what?
Well, if it wasn’t preposterous enough to call a Chelsea blog ‘Blue Champions’ today you really topped it off…
‘Defining weekend for Chelsea’…yeah, sure, you’re halfway ‘blue champions’ already..
And Arsenal were oh so poor, crikey, what game did you watch? This is absolutley ridiculous and you need an urgent reality check.
For once Chelsea turn up, probably for the first time this season, and suddenly you’re within a shout of the title yet again. What is it that pride comes before? Precisely.
Fans have this thing called ‘hope’. That’s how Liverpool fans are expecting their team to win the league for so long. And yes, Arsenal were poor today. Look at the table again. See who’s within a shout of the title. You’re going to get wild if I talk about this – look at history. You don’t need to be topping the table by October to win the title. Otherwise, we are we playing till May?
By the way, Michael couple of words about the new look of the blog?
Not bad actually, I have to say. Would look nicer in red though. Hehe.
No, of course you can’t win the league by October, but you can have already lost it. Chelsea were looking like they might be close to losing it and seem to have overcome their weakness, however, one beating of an admittedly fairly decent team doesn’t mean you’re through the valley yet.
What’s more, you good run of form of late hightlights how important JM really was for you. And his true importance doesn’t quite match his self-confidence.
I don’t think Arsenal were poor today and judging by what the Guardian, BBC and teamtalk write, whatever they were, they weren’t poor. I suppose they were a tad below their best but nevertheless they weren’t poor. According to Sky Arsenal had more than 60% possession, is that poor? Hitting the post three times, is that poor? No, it isn’t.
So it’s a matter of one opinion, supported by you, against a differing opinion, supported by more sources than just you. And, crucially, it’s supported by facts. So there.
arsenal were much better than liverpool, defensively liverpool were competent, but not much else. Finishing wise perhaps, yes arsenal were poor.
yee’ .. i don’t agree that Arsenal were poor .. i don’t love them but in my opinion they play better than L’pool .. and i agree with TruBlueInd that Fabregas is toooo good .. by the way i like the new look
Its time you guys move on and forget TSO.
He left you for pride and to be honest I think he left because he could see he is not going to win with this Chelsea team he created.
(and do it just before a game against MU is selfishness).
Its time you people see him for what he was- He build a team that would suit his tactic- defend, slow the game ,score one keep it that way.
Yes he won trophies but one need to look at the spending and the caliber of players he brought to make it happen.
Look at Arsen ,he is a true coach and manager- he brings in players at one tenth of those of Chelsea and see how they look today?
He builds them up ,make them play to their ability ,integrate them to a team
and they are great. He planed for the future ,TSO PLANED IT ALL ARROUND HIS BIG EGO.
Chelsea played like robots ,with a remot controlling their movement .I don’t need a carizmathic manager I want to see a charizmathic
team. That what soccer is all about. And on saturday it was the first time in two years that I saw the players coming to their true ability as individuals as well as partners to a united team.
I am not trying to credit anyone ,but if Grant is promoting the idea of free soccer and let these players off the remot than it maybe what we needed here.
Look at JK he is wonderful with his skill and passes.Lampard is back with his long accurate passes. The players are moving changing position and letting the ball find them rather than waiting for the ball . If that what Roman like than yes JM had to go. And you know what -I like it too.
True no one is a magician ,but if players were forced to play under certain
constraint, their true ability was surpressed. It may need only a different view of the manager to change things arround.
I realy hope so for Chelsea and for soccer.
Arsenal were poor because they couldn’t hit the open net (Fabregas the cultprit) when they got their chances. The way Arsenal completed their moves was poor. They had the possession but we very predictable. Liverpool very clearly knew Arsenal’s moves and steps and defended accordingly. They had their style of passing around but when it mattered they could not break through Liverpool’s defence (except once – Fabregas the saviour) whereas Liverpool consistently broke Arsenal’s defence. Also Liverpool’s chances were more clear cut and sharp. Liverpool hit the target many times but were unlucky to go ahead. Like in anywhere else, statistics can be very misleading, especially the possession numbers (pointless possession is not good, right?) and shots (even a tame shot at the keeper is taken as shot on target). I don’t have to form my opinion based on Guardian on BBC because I watched the match live.
I really wonder if ppl make some comments based on single game!!
Some retards they are!
JM…….thanx 4 the comment dude!
We won 6 nil…….over a pathetic ManCity team!!
It was a good game and all of a sudden u post that “?>!@$(0″ up there!
Be happy that the team won!
Cuz on another day we wont beat city 6:0
PS. dnt get carried away with all this revolution talk!
Grant has been in charge for 3 weeks or so!!!
And you’ve seen a a totally new Chelsea style??? Pathetic
If i were Grant id be really concerned!!!
the true test of a manger…….is not to entertain througt 6:0 victories !!
It’s creating tactics that will cause a team to win with their backs against the wall, even when it sometimes seems all hope is gone!!
Not saying am talking about scraping victories!!
But when we are down and thru the genius of Grant, Chelsea find a way out….thru the full length of a season…then i’ll be more gracious with Grant!
Some of the comments make ya’ll sound like Gummers fans!
“Yaay we are playin entertaining football!”
Focus on the premiership in its entirity and stop getting acrried away!
Celebrate each win as a win not like we have won the premeirship already!
By the way…..Grant hasnt made many foolish decisions thus far!
He has done quite remarkable thus far!!!
I’m surprised!
I must also say Im extremely proud of the players for giving him a chance!
Even when stubborn fans like me bash Grant nite and day they still go out and play their all for the manager and the Club!
That shouldnt go unnoticed!
Thats y Im not a player….am only a fan!
This week was very good for chelsea.
Chelsea 6-0 Man City
Liverpool 1-1 Arsenal , this one is better than 6-0 .
Both of them dropped two points.
and Arsenal is not too far , 5 points is nothing. Arsenal has not played versus Manchester yet , I hope both of them drop points then and Chelsea win all games tell then.
my only worry is that we are counting on Essien, Kalou , Drogba and Mikel too much , when they go for african cup , what we should do . I hope Sheva get ready as soon as possible , I read he practices individually to be accustomed to Premier league pace.
I am not worried about Essien and Mikel and Kalou so much becasue Ballack will return and we also have Makelele and Malouda.
By the way , Did you see the way Ten Cate deressed ? so formal .
He dressed like coaches. I think He will be coach after Grant. I still believe Grant won’t be chelsea coach next season. he won’t be sacked and he will stay at club but Ten Cate will continue.
I guess AG’s overall plan is to
(1) try to play as much pretty football with lesser teams and placate RA in
that departmrnt
(2) tell the team to revert back to Mourinho mode and grind down the bigger
teams
(3) get more pricy players when CFC don’t win anything this season and
blame the players for it ( in private to RA for any slip-ups )
(4) Proclaim that the change to a stylish style of play is an on-going work of
art as much as possible ( good back up excuse)
(5) Try not to get enough sleep and keep those panda eyes to show
commitment
(6) Tout the ” I’m Mr Ordinary doing extraordinary things” mantra as much as
possible
(7) Get as much dough outta RA as possible
(8) Get out as fast as possible, citing health problems once the politicking and
on-field problems become untenable
Hey, I’d do the same stuff if I were in his position too.
I disagree with BC. I think Arsenal played good and Liverpool were very lucky not to loose… but ManU are strong and Arsenal may have tough time containing them next week. Hope its a draw and it would give chelsea a great chance to close down.
i also thought arsenal were wonderful in anfield. We all know how difficult it is out there and it was a relief to see that they had to settle with a point.
Ok! Looks like I’m all alone on the assessment of yesterday’s match :-) That’s fine. This is how Roman must have felt after he sacked TSO! Prats you’re saying it is difficult out there in Anfield. Remember, a weaker Arsenal team beat a full Liverpool team 6-3 and 4-0 in a space of one week at Fortress Anfield.
‘Playing well’ is a dangerous phrase. They passed around well but in the last third they were bad. Liverpool did not need so many passes to reach their attacking third, which is good, and when they got there, they found the target and threatened the keeper.
Oh I forgot to add
(10 ) Pray that England leave out Lamps always and also that Drogs and
African contigent’s respective teams are eliminated from the African Cup
quickly
(11) Hope that A Cole and JT injuries mend not like Bollocks injuries
(12 ) Earnestly pray that injuries do not decimate the team
(3) Lose some weight in the process of doing all of the above
JoseHoliday! I was expecting some feedback from you on the new look of the blog! How do you feel?
BC it’s easy on the eyes and clean-cut . The blue colour looks a bit on the murky side ( or is it becos of my monitor ?) I did like the little jersey logos beside our names in the last layout , maybe you could import that back into this one. On the whole OK with me !
And could the title ” Blue champs ” be in blue ?
well i was reminiscing chelsea’s encounters in anfield in recent times when i wrote it… of course it hasn’t been disgraceful…far from it especially 3 seasons ago [:)]…but difficult…emphatic yes….one has to feel awed by the whole atmosphere in Anfield……therefore i felt the whole point of arsenal being able to create so much in the field and run the reds ragged was commendable….
having said that, the result really gives a boost to the chances of chelsea….couldn’t have been a happier weekend results.
BC the new look is good… it has more content on the page and looks segregated. It is nice.
Anfield is getting draws…. Liverpool drew 4 of thier 5 home games that is odd. I think it has got to do with the team selection that Rafa is getting… Too much of dependence on torres may be….
the way crouch played in 2nd half astonished me. He was superb. almunia made 2 wonderful saves of gerrard and 2 of crouch. verolin and torres were noo where and thats y liverpool drew. Its all wrong with rafas rotation policy. believe me guys rafa is gonna be sacked soon. he didnt did himself a favor subst gerrard against everton in local derby. next season we r gonna see a new pool boss for sure.
Arsenal played good but helb and adebayor were not up to mark(still in hangover of 7-0 honeymoon). proving again that without persie they lack a lot.. walcott etc not same class. playing man utd without persie they have absolutely no chance to win with rooney and tevez starting to gel.
overall absolutely fantastic weekend footy….
i also saw roma vs milan… expect jose to be in milan next season. kaka was no where in the game.
BTW YO u up there , telling us forget JM
All this RA & AG bashing is justified.
It’s not just that JM left or that RA pushed him out
It’s the way that RA used his money to push JM out ( of course he can , he’s the owner ) but it was done in a crap classless way. Without thinking about the players , the club and most importantly : the fans
RA is just like the junta in a country in certain southeast Asia that kills monks.
” I’ll do what I like, just shut the F….ck up …. kinda low-life attitude and way of going around bossing people. ” that I detest.
when RA took over I thought he was a notch above Bates. But the way the JM saga at CFC ended showed me that RA is just a rich arseholle from the hood.
@Blue Champion
Trust me mate, even if cfc wins three premiership titles in a row,you know what your response will be like…………ok i will tell you
1.to be honest quality of teams in premiership has detoriated to such an extent………….i can’t tell you……….man utd looks like derby……….when we defeated them 5-0 at old trafford………..look at their defending….terrible…….if poor saf[i feel sorry for him] seriously has to above above 2nd pos,he needs to change the team…………..
2.i won’t credit anything to avram………………..period
3.i will claim we owe our recent titles to jose mourinho…………he instilled us with winning mentality.
and many more…………………..you will have all the oints by the time you have finished this
@everyone jose holiday in particular
now i m goin to bring up the super nice topic of our winning mentality………..even with or without mourinho…even without a manger…………the squad we have will finish in top 4…………some say we used to play sexy football earlier and won nothing…………..simply caus of the quality of players then………..can you even think of comparing any time cfc squad to the current squad…….the problem lies in the fact that most of us over here only cares for the thropies………trophies……….and trophies…………….i m not saying winning thropy is bad…………..but the key term is”only”………..roman is world’s 13th richest man for nothing………….he has a rag to riches story……he is shrewd enough to know what is right for the club and what is not…………………….yes we obtained title after 50 years……..but never forget……….we got money to compete with the big teams after 50 years……………………..
name one big team who doesn’t play like what roman want us to………..ac milan, inter, barca, real, arsenal and man utd…………..
my review of the match will come later………
@BC
arsenal were the better team……….like it or hate it………..maybe you like mourinho’s style of defense after 1 goal so much that you found liverpool better…………………
@True Blue Fusion
The kid has screwed up his exam today ;) lol
if you think roman has become one of the richest in the world doing everything right go get some sleep. he must have done many mistakes and learned from them to rise. This time too he has made a mistake and may god make him learn from it for the better of chelsea.
as maysam has said earlier too … this is not crisis .. it is yet to come .
hope chelsea will withstand it.
@nihongo blue
*This time too he has made a mistake and may god make him learn from it for the better of chelsea.
only time will tell………………..
*as maysam has said earlier too … this is not crisis .. it is yet to come .
maysam too said[no disrespect to maysam] that against valencia we will lose 2-0 and later 3-0
maysam said against bolton we will lose or draw
and maysam just has changed his mind about avram provided you are following the comments………..maysam commented avram deserves more than an a…………check for urself
‘Arsenal poor’….what r u smoking man….if u can’t understand it even as a neutral fan then go to liverpool official site and check their blog on this match…for the first time have seen pool fans praising opposition and criticising their own…
@15…u have nothing upstairs…so stop barking….
dont worry buddy i read all the comments but some you take and some you dont :)
Avram will get an A when his substitutions will change the flow of the game… when his half time talks will show us a different chelsea… and most importantly his progress and tactics in knock out stages of CL(for me here u need a top class tactician).. end stage of league.
let him go through this and time will tell how much jose is missed!!
cheers
@Blue Champion
through your post, you have just made such a wonderful victory look like crap………………instead of praising our heroes in blue……………u have made it a point to somehow convince everyone over here that man city’s defense was bad.
i have no doubts when i say that jose made even watford’s defense look like the world’s best defence………..
can you even lie that under jose, super frank could have produced such a performance…………….his last years performance were so woeful even when he scored 22…………since the bolton game………..he has started earning my appreciation as a neutral and his latest performance has conviced me………i won’t swap kaka, fabregas, ronnie, deco anyone for him…………you did not mention paolo’s brilliant and mindblowing left back performance………..if it had not been for super frank pass………………..he was my man of match……………………last year he was afraid to go forward and this year he looks like one of the best attacking option on the wing…….and that too at left back…………..and icing on the cake he was doin stepovers and even beating defense……………….i cannot even imagine what ashley will look like in our new system………..we are going to see the ashley of arsenal……….even essien was lookin like a playmaker………………………….just imagine ballack into the system with frank as his partner in playmaking role…………………………….
but of course you will rather have those 1-0 wins against wycombe, macclesfield, watford……………and claim how mr.mourinho’s tactics won us the game.
@nihongo blue
caus everyone here so much talk about tactics……..half time talks……….do u think a team of our calibre needs to use the so-called tactics to win the match by 1 gd against reading[latest example]
and as far as i know rafa”who is not exactly known for tactics”has outdone our master tacticians many times with an inferior squad…………
do u know what are tactics………..tactics are those which u make before the match and those tactics 99%time cruise you through the match
to put it simply
*jose played not to lose…………..and as henk ten cate has said that he will play to win………………the difference theoretically nothing but change is there in attitude………..imagine a glass half-filled with water………A says it’s half empty, B says it is haf full…………….maybe u will get my point
True Blue Fusion@32,
Are you so forgetful? Are you saying Jose was the cause of lamp’s drop in form last year? If so do you credit him for lamp’s amazing form in our season winning campaign?
What about Paolo? Is that the first time you have seen him play that well? what of what of he did in the FA final last season reducing C Ronaldo into an idle passenger?
Essien was looking like a playmaker? so that is the first time you have seen essien play like that for chelsea, huh? You have never seen essien surging forward, making through passes and scoring goals for us?
So as far you are concerned, we were winning only 1-0 while Mour was here? can you honestly tell me the last time chelsea played a team that was so lax in defending and gave us so much space and time on the ball?
just last wednesday against shalke, we had lots of difficulties because they were very combative and gave us little space- we won alright but it was our dogged determination that saw us thro at home.
Guys, stop getting ahead of yourself. wait till ten cate fully has time to bring what he has then we can start screaming ourselves hoarse.
but whatever we do, one thing that matters most is Victory- gallas said it last week that entertainment is of no use when you have nothing to show for it.
what did that reading do to a team of man utds calibre before that match?? any answer??
Jose unlike Wenger, Rafa and SAF had to deliver trophy right from the first campaign. He did not have the time luxury these others had to wallow behind for seasons claiming they were gradually constructing.
he took the challenge head on and delivered the ultimate english diadem back to back and would have clinched a third successive but for a combination of injuries and Roman’s shevchenco inspired “madness”.
after achieving those critical goals, then he could afford to start thinking about entertainment while pursuing further laurels. How would some of you have felt if like wenger he had over the last three seasons played with panache and won nothing?
lay off Jose and please do not commit sacrilege by even comparing grant to Jose. one is a true legend the other is a wannabe whose ass is being covered by the determination of the players and the talent of Tein cate.
TBF@33,
Lets say it this way- Jose plays not to lose and tein cate (am glad when the comparison does not involve grant) plays to win.
The italians play the first one and the dutch play the second one-
which of these two nations is the bigger and more successful football nation? Italy. is it because the azurris entertain more? No.
it is because their philosophy makes them more successful.
ask a team like New castle, Blackburn, Bolton which they would choose between being successful and being entertainers and they will tell you the former- why? because victory is the ultimate. After a while, once they have become used to victory, the human crave for more will ask for something extra.
So while we do not begrudge your desire for more (wish you could have been a gunner though over the last three years to fully experience that entertainment), please do well not to take anything from the solid accomplishemnt the team has chalked over the last three seasons.
Agent Blue@11
you said-
“the true test of a manager…….is not to entertain througt 6:0 victories !!
It’s creating tactics that will cause a team to win with their backs against the wall, even when it sometimes seems all hope is gone.”
What can i say? You have been missed. And so is Adonis. Does anyone know where he is at all?
HEY BC WHAT A NONSENSE (I am crying right now)
How can you say that Arsenal played poorly? They played very attractive dangerous football and wasted two 100% chances though I started to watch at the 20th minute. And don’t forget thay that they played at HELL called Anfield.
BC, please don’t be biased.
Cheers
TBF – I have nothing against Grant. He is the manager of my beloved team. Why should I hate him? There are more reasons for me to love him than to hate him. Do I love him? No, not really. Has he done anything to make me love him. Not yet. I didn’t fall for TSO overnight. I liked him because he delivered the goods. Well that’s history. You have a very unfortunate understanding of my stances. I don’t plan to respond to each of your such comments.
If we win the premier league this season or next season, I’d give no credit to TSO because to make a team win the PL is something special irrespective the money or bought the players or previous manager’s contribution. You say, even without any manager the team would end up at No.4. But my friend, There is a huge gap between finishing as Champions and the rest (from No. 2 to No.20 – it’s all one and the same – non-champions). At the same time, will I give all the credit to Avram? No. I won’t. He is still not made me believe that he knows his football. But I would give 100% credit to Roman, for replacing TSO and still winning the PL.
M_D: Welcome back. Attractive and dangerous football? We’ve been down that road before. There is a distinctive gap in the way I appreciate football and you (TBF too) do. Please don’t ignore that the defence is as important as offence. Defence is not to be treated like scavenging. If a team defends poorly and still scores 3 goals, you have to say they played poorly and lucky not to be punished. I saw that it’s not difficult to pierce the Arsenal defence after all. If you stop them from scoring, a top class team can pierce their defence with ease. A good tactical manager can always wear them down. Arsene Wenger could never beat Jose Mourinho because they can always be tactically overwhelmed.
I admit, I have bias and I’m human. You all have bias how much ever you dont want to admit it. I’m not some fella at BBC or Sky to write to appease the fans of all clubs so that they return to those sites to read that their team did very well. I don’t have to read what’s written in the Liverpool website. I don’t have to make my own opinion by reading other websites. I watch, I feel and I write. Like always, you have a right to disagree.
True Blue Fusion :
of course i said , becasue i did not think Avram succeed in chelsea, however it is too soon to say so but I like him now.
I don’t scare to say I made mistake.
yes i said.
About Arsenal , Arsenal is not fantastic , they hane not played versus good teams yet.
by the way , I said Valencia 2-0 Chelsea, did u expect me to predict our win :)) ?
even if mourinho was not sacked I would not predict cheslea win :))
suggestion : BC
too much gap between sent messages .
Maysam – I don’t understand your remark. “gap between sent messages?”
Arsenal were not poor against Liverpool. They should have got three points and put in a very solid performance. The statement that Manchester United should surely beat Arsenal away next weekend is again, a little bit strange. Surely? I think if anyone is going to win at the Emirates it will be Arsenal, and even if Manchester United do have a strong chance to say they will surely win is a little bit off…
I am biased but I also see some good things happening too.
I think having Ten Cate in there is the best thing done at CFC for some-time.
The attacking has become quite good : I credit him in that department.
The defence may not be so good : you know Alex was tugging shirts as his primary defence tactic.
The team has accepted that TSO is not returning.
Fans are waving flags.
AG is primping up.
But the opposition in the EPL is getting better n better.
To be champions this year or in the coming years CFC’s gotta be better than them. I just hope we have enough of whatever it takes. We got enough dough, but it’ll take more than that.
But then in the longer term I see and think of the following :
If CFC turns into a Real Madrid type managers-merry-go-round : so be it.
But then RA’s gotta bring in the best blokes and deliver stylish footy and trophies like Real on a regular basis
And I’ll be like a Real Madrid fan : demand ,rave, rant, scream and cry blue murder when there’s no Premiership,CL for more than two years.
PK can forget bringing up youngsters or balancing the CFC check book cos the way CFC’s going is like I wrote above: We are gonna be the EPL Real Madrid.
I sincerely believe that , but I will be a blue forever !
OK I was a bit harsh on Roman , But he was harsh on us fans too.
@mourofessien
*Are you so forgetful? Are you saying Jose was the cause of lamp’s drop in form last year? If so do you credit him for lamp’s amazing form in our season winning campaign?
like it or not lamp in his each season with jose has only detoriated as what you call a playmaker………..[atleast in my books he detoriated]…………and improved as goalscoring machine…………….lasty season…….when lamps got ball anywhere near the d………………all he was doing was shooting……shooting and shooting…………no wonder the goals came………….assists came caus he played behind the strikers not caus he was functioning as atleast what i call a playmaker.
*What about Paolo? Is that the first time you have seen him play that well? what of what of he did in the FA final last season reducing C Ronaldo into an idle passenger?
i never mentioned the defensive instinct of paolo…………i mentioned the attacking instict………….and as for cheater ronaldo……….he is yet to score a goal without tappin the ball or heading the ball in this season and if i m not wrong he does not have assist even…………cr7 is one of those over-hyped man utd right wingers………..he comes into the mould of super-hyped beckham……..
*Essien was looking like a playmaker? so that is the first time you have seen essien play like that for chelsea, huh? You have never seen essien surging forward, making through passes and scoring goals for us?
essien role is not a playmaker………….he is a midfield of defensive mould
*So as far you are concerned, we were winning only 1-0 while Mour was here? can you honestly tell me the last time chelsea played a team that was so lax in defending and gave us so much space and time on the ball?
you know what is the difference between grt team and a good team………..grt team makes good defense look like shite…………………we outplayed them…simple
*just last wednesday against shalke, we had lots of difficulties because they were very combative and gave us little space- we won alright but it was our dogged determination that saw us thro at home.
this is obvious when we play a big team………..to be honest we were the better team by miles…………they had their chances obviously but nothin extraordinary except that header which hit the post.
i don’t expect to win against big teams by more than 2-0…………..but what about small teams……………1-0 against them
*lay off Jose and please do not commit sacrilege by even comparing grant to Jose. one is a true legend the other is a wannabe whose ass is being covered by the determination of the players and the talent of Tein cate.
it was avram or roman who hired ten cate…………….not the other way round
*Lets say it this way- Jose plays not to lose and tein cate (am glad when the comparison does not involve grant) plays to win.
The italians play the first one and the dutch play the second one-
which of these two nations is the bigger and more successful football nation? Italy. is it because the azurris entertain more? No.
it is because their philosophy makes them more successful.
italy won the world cup………..i don’t care…………..as i have mentioned earlier it’s not ONLY about trophies………..italy are no longer a force caus due to their defence…………..their attack is as good as defense……….and take a survey or a poll or whatever……………brazil, france, germany, argentina all have more fans and respect than the italy national team…………the problem with dutch is that they are completely based on attack…………they lack decent defenders……….but their performance wether in wc or euro is always worth applauding.
*ask a team like New castle, Blackburn, Bolton which they would choose between being successful and being entertainers and they will tell you the former- why? because victory is the ultimate. After a while, once they have become used to victory, the human crave for more will ask for something extra.
So while we do not begrudge your desire for more (wish you could have been a gunner though over the last three years to fully experience that entertainment), please do well not to take anything from the solid accomplishemnt the team has chalked over the last three seasons.
the teams you have mentioned are mid-table teams who for once will demand victory over anything but once sucess is established……………they will want entertainment……..we no longer come into the mould of the teams you have mentioned………..three years back yes…….now no………….we come into the mould of man utd,l’pool,le arse,barca,real,milan,inter,bayern………..and everyone of the mentioned teams demand flair and as grant says it positive football.
and yes even if chelsea gets relegated[god forbid it ever happens],i will support the blues…………and even if le’arse does a quadruple i DON’T CARE
@nihongo blue
*what did that reading do to a team of man utds calibre before that match?? any answer??
ever heard the word “out of form”…….that’s what man utd were in the beginning…………they have started reaching their potentials by now and already threatning gunners for 1st place…………now you are going to come out saying……………..so were we…………..but that’s not the case…..it was a typical jose victory………..it happens almost everyday
@Blue Champion
Arsene Wenger could never beat Jose Mourinho because they can always be tactically overwhelmed.
who said i don’t appreciate defence……………..le’ arse never won against cfc caus of the simple reason………………
1.inferiorty of le’ arse squad when compared to cfc………..arsene plays his second string team in all cup comptetions……so cut them out………even in carling final i was gutted we won 2-1 when we wre playing with kids that too novice
2.mourinho’s tactics against big teams were the only thing i can admire………..but his tactic again simply was defend with even more superiority………
I saw the Aresy n Liverfool match.
I didn’t especially think Aresy was that good either. More like a headless chicken til Fiabergas’s toe-poke got them a draw.
Liverfool shoulda finshed them off with the chances they had. But then again Aresy ain’t that great against teams of some mean defensive capability and managers of some astute tactical ability.
Aresy are good but only against the lesser teams .
