I feel really sorry for Sven. Demolition and total humiliation. A brilliant all round performance from Chelsea brought Man City back to planet earth! Chelsea was on top gear from the word go and played with such authority reminiscent of our style of the title winning seasons.
Chelsea started with a 4-3-3, Kalou and Joe Cole supporting Drogba, Lampard and Essien on either sides of Mikel. Once again we got an early goal. If we really make this a habit, it’s gonna serve us well. If it was a goalless first half, things could have been lot different based on the tactical changes by both coaches. Once again we got a early break when Lampard saw Essien working in the space behind their left back. Essien controlled a superb throughpass from Lampard and finished it with some ease. He loves those tight angles, doesn’t he?
The second goal was a piece of heaven when Lampard demanded the ball in the left midfield and unleashed the ball, which curved nicely enough to beat the central defenders and find the feet of Drogba. For anyone who thought he could not reproduce his form of the last season, he has answered enough and more. The moment Drogba got the ball in that position, there’s no other outcome than goal from an authoritative finish.
I think the match ended at halftime. When we were 2-0 up, we were good not only at attack, we were defending very strongly too. Man City could hardly construct an attack or two. The body language of the City players showed that they had conceded the match. They never thought they could score two second half goals at the Bridge against a confident Chelsea team with Carvalho, Belletti, Ferreira and Alex, who were protected by their midfield and if City come through these names they had mighty Petr Cech to beat. So, I think we had won the match by half time. For this precise reason, I thought my man of the match was Lampard. He set up those two goals and he was a constant threat creating chance after chance. He was also tracking back to help the defence with his smart tackles. His first half performance was absolutely brilliant and in my books he deserves the award today more than anyone else does, including Essien and Drogba.
The other four goals were only of academic importance. Probably, Sven made a tactical error of taking the game to Chelsea at the Bridge. Man City are flying high of late. That confidence might have made him attack Chelsea at their den, which obviously backfired. City played an open game against mentally weak Man Utd at the City of Manchester stadium and won the match 1-0. Sven might have thought it should work after all. But in the end, our unbeaten record swallowed one more opponent along the way.
For all the talk about the tennis match scoreline, our defending was brilliant and that deserves a mention. Overall, in that 90-minute period, I never thought we would concede. We defended with good awareness of the game and players like Lampard and Essien did chip in when it mattered. So even defensively, it was a very good game.
Avram Grant could not be a happier man. His team won an important match with such a scoreline. It was such a day that even out-of-form Shevchenko found the net.
In the last month we have improved in every match. The players want to be better and have shown full commitment to positive football and winning – there are no big secrets behind this. We will enjoy this but we are in the middle of the process and want to continue it. I don’t think we will win many games 6-0. Manchester City are not an easy team to beat but we made it easier. We moved like we needed to and played our football. The fans know now we are trying to play positive football.
While I’m very happy at the result and the scoreline as well, we should realise that Man City were poor. They are the #3 in the league now and all that but they played poorly. When a team beats 6-0, the losing team should have done more than one thing wrong. Of course, we would take credit for breaking their defence, but was it too difficult to break their defence? I think we were helped by their defenders with their poor positioning and not doing the basics right. Man City were very light in their defence and played like pushovers. Our midfield was given lots of time to send those perfectly weighted throughpasses that their defence could not cope with. We just needed two or three passes to pose a goal threat which talks about their defensive performance.
First goal – poor positioning, second goal – Lampard’s incredible pass, third goal – mess again, fourth goal – Joe Cole’s skill, fifth goal and sixth goal – poor defending in the midfield area. So, even if Man City had played better we would have still won but probably have score only 2 or 3 goals. Sven explains his side of the story:
We forgot how to defend. If you give a team like Chelsea space and time that will happen. It was very bad defending from our side – we have to be much better than that. It has been a good story so far this season but I’m sorry for the fans who travelled here. There were a lot of them here, they wanted to see us play good football – not see us lose like we did. People are talking about us playing good football but you have to defend and be very aggressive. If you don’t do that against a team like Chelsea this happens.
Shevchenko finally scores, that is, after fumbling an easier chance. Anyways, he is on the score sheet. By the time Kalou and Shevchenko scored, Man City were just spectators hoping for the final whistle. I’m not going to be very excited with Sheva’s goal. I want him to score those match winners, like the one he scored against the Spurs last season. Scoring the fifth or sixth goal has lesser and lesser weights. Good for him anyway.
So, what’s the final word? Fantastic game. In the league, consistency is the name of the game. It’s not the consistency of scoring but that of winning. Who’s behind the mini-revival of the Chelsea team? Is it Avram or Ten Cate or Roman himself? The way Chelsea played, I could see some Dutch influence. I don’t if it is Dutch or Israeli or even Russian as long as we can keep winning like this. Now, I’ll be a Red tomorrow as I cheer Liverpool as loudly as possible to beat Arsenal. If that happens, we’ve got a league on hand!

Shevchenko you sneaky bastard, what an exciting game and i was only reading live updates on bbc! I think this is just what grant was talking about, eh? lets hope this ‘style’ is here to stay
drogba better not just be shitting on all our breakfasts and showing us all what we’ll be missing.
6-0! A beautiful result for Chelsea and great game from Lampard, Drogba, and Joe Cole in particular in the rout. Time to well and truly start our march up the table in fine style!
great great !!!
licence to kill has been grantED and with cech and players like carvalhio around this license looks legitimate…
i am really enjoying today…

go blues.. expect a draw tomorrow between arsenal and loserpool and we are back in business..
KTBFFH
best game chelsea has ever played!
this is what i call beautiful football…every chelsea player played great
lampard with 3 assists
drogba with 2 goals
essien with a goal and 2 assist
kalou with a good goal
j.cole with another great finish
most importantly…SHEVA FINALLY SCORED!!!
imo, it should have been way more than 6-0
that’s chelsea we want to see we scored 6 goal against Man.city.. we must continiued like that..!
Ch-Ch-ch-Ch-cHEEEEELLLLLSSSSEEEAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man city VERY POOR, but good football? The scoreline says it all.
Lampard first half Out of this world!!! That pass for Drogba’s goal… had me drooling… Looks like he’s playing the way he used to under Ranierri. Didn’t shoot as often and played in others instead. Unlucky not to score himself too. THIS IS THE LAMPARD THAT WON HIM ENGLAND PLAYER OF THE YEAR. THIS IS THE LAMPARD I I USE TO LOVE MORE THAN ANY OTHER PLAYER.
Essien set up at least two and scored the first!!!
Defence kept a clean sheet even though we allowed them space.
Sheva gets one for himself and Abramovic.
Mikel BRILLIANT again.
Every player deserving of the scoreline
Aaaaaaaah.. What more could we ask for?
KTBFFH!!!!!
This is just great. We still need more patience as i think a lot of good things are coming . I just cant believe this demolition of mancity. The good part is a clean shit.
We need to be winning every match till the match against Arsenal at emirate. .
I am waiting for your post BC
Up Blues

(… GO TEN CATE.. GIVE US IMPORTANT SILWARES
SHeva’s first goal in premier league this season
WE WILL SHOW THE GUNNERS WHO TO STEAL THE TROPHY.. HaHaaaaaa
SHEVA SCORES AGAIN YAAAAAAAAAAAAA
If every match goes as well as this one, I’m pretty sure Drogba will prolong his stay in Chelsea.. Afterall Lampard wants him to stay, he needs Drog in chelsea.. and yeah.. what a brilliant pass from him n he knows it’s got to be Drogba who can utilize that kind of pass, that’s why he said he needs Drogba!! C’mon Drogba! “Be forever blues!”
N congratulations to Sheva, u deserve the goal dude!
Go Blues!!
~Get us the trophies we deserve~
I think Ten Cate was behind this, I don’t like Avram. What would it’ve been if Mourinho didn’t leave and team up with Ten Cate? Must be the end of the world for the other clubs. I miss TSO reaction after we scored, and 6-0…!! TSO must be running on the pitch to celebrate with the players!
Chelsea 4 eva!
ferreira played very well today.Joe Cole,Essien, lamps, Drogs were immense.Kalou has to steady himself in front of goal if he is going to score many goals. There is a definite change in the way we are playing.Chelsea are playing more one first touch passes and are running off the ball. Under Mourinho’s safety approach, passes had to be direct to the player and not into space, that is why it was boring. Its too early to start celebrating but I like what I see now.
Well, well, well!!!!!!!!! Am yet to watch the match but judging from the five live commentary I monitored, we must have been on song this afternoon.
Will post fuller comments later but why do I have a sneaky suspicion that the undoing of Man city is coming to the bridge with a belief that our troubles will make us vulnerable and hence instead of doing the usual packed midfield and man marking they came believing they can play us off the park the way Fulham did the last time we played the league at home?
I agree with missing the excited reaction, Grant and Roman looked way too subdued for the thrill of a 6-0 drubbing. Even though Man City played poorly, I think we have to be thrilled with the style of this victory. Perhaps Grant can produce stylish, attacking football after all.
Lamps as Man of the Match in my mind, no doubt, followed closely by Drogba and Essien.
Expect a draw tomorrow between Arsenal and Pool, and draw again next week between Arsenal and MU
I cannot envy Tein Cate at all. Whatever great Barca like transformations he brings along will all be credited to this Grant guy. Hearing some of the commentators scream Avram Grant’s Chelsea on five live today made me really have a laugh.
Anyway, so long as the boys keep winning, no complaints from me unless Grant decides to start beating his “undeserving” chest.
hey guys, why are we getting carried away? great game. Mancity has been in great form however they did not give us any challenge. if it chelsea that’s so good to open them up, then we are in for a greater period.
contrary to normal chelsea’s game, every move seemed like a scoring chance even right to the end and it was a joy to see.
up blues, up chelsea!!!
I was surprised when i see the lineups today. But believe me, I really like the changes made by Grant and the team selection. Hopefully tomorrow’s match between liverpool and arsenal will be won by the host.
I want to to see how Arsenal’s kids will bring themselves up from the defeat. And the upper week, Arsenal – Manutd should be draw and liverpool should also lose to Blackburn Rovers. By then we will be comfortably be in top 4 and challenge for the title.
Up Blues
no comment ..
Essien is attacking more
Lampard is passing more and placing more balls into open space
There are more off ball movements
Joe Cole is expressing more-
These are the changes Grant Promised but cos he is daft, Tein cate has been hired to deliver them. Welcome to Cate.
SOOOOOOO good to see positivity around the blues……lovely to see the result….amazing game…even Sheva had a part to play…..
its great to hear that Ballack will soon be back. he will be so needed when Essien and Mikel leave for CoN in January.
We should let Pizarro and Sheva see lots more actions in preparation for January since the mantle will entirely be on their shoulder then.
Grant was smart enough to hire ten cate.he is humble enough to realise that there is somebody who can deliver beautiful football better than him, hires the guy and now we are begining to see the results.
Even if Avram is not a brilliant coach the fact that he is smart enough to hire the right people is god enough for me.
Go Avram
I know its too early to make judgements but I like what I have seen so far
Here goes Grant again in the post match reaction-
“I know we cannot do it in every game over the 90 minutes but I think we need in modern football for people to come and have fun. It is very important to win games but the way you win them is also important.
“I have done this all my life, not in England, but I am trying to do it here.”
Hellllllllloooooooooo Mr Grant, where have you ever accomplished this feat?
Guys, you see what i mean when I say Tein Cate was brought in by Roman to achieve things in order for Roman to claim that his decision to make Grant the boss was a piece of genuis?
Let Grant absent himself over the next five matches and see if we will play any less. This guy should shut up.
I think that many Chelsea fans own Abramovich and Grant an apology!
Abramovich was right to let Jose go and now we see why! Mourinho never bit anybody 6-0 while at Chelsea… and let me remind everyone that we beat by 6-0 the team that ranks #3 at the moment!!!
Abramovich knew that Jose brought us as far as he could and to play defensive football and winning is one thing… but playing defensive and losing is unacceptable when you pore as much money as Roman did in his team! My note is not a knock on Mourinho (he should always be remembered fondly) but the acknowledgment that there was a real need to move on at reach the next level… and TSO wasn’t the one to take us there.
Although it was only a short time under Grant/ten Cate/ Clark we can see that the players are now free to play and not asked to kill the game after 1-0!
When did you guys last seen Essien making run after run in the opposition’s box? He had to always stop 30 yards out and mind his defensive play!
Well done, Chelsea!
Hi BC and other guys,
I was absent since Mourinho’s departure when I was banned from here.
You guys now understand why I so fiercely criticized Mourinho and wanted him to be sacked.
Anyway, let’s hope this new style of Chelsea stays with us forever!!
Forever blue MD.
Poor Sven- Why is he trying to rob Grant the credit Grants is craving so much? Hear him-
“If you give Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Joe Cole all the time and space we gave them today, they will kill you and they killed us.
“We made Chelsea better than they are today. By two or three passes they are along with our goalkeeper – that is not defending.”
By the way, who said Tein Cate was hired by Grant? Sly the Blue Spy buddy, have you heard of Frank Arnesen and the dutch henchmen at Chelsea?
one of chelseas best games ever and i thought it was even more exciting than arsenal or man utd.
But an amazing game from j.cole and lampsy keep up the gd work..
For those of you who are trying so hard to claim that we played today the football of angels, check out Sven’s verdict properly.
If Mour were in charge, there is no way City would have come playing with the laxity the played us. poor marking, failing to track back, poor defending and giving us the space we had.
Every EPL team knew that the only to contain Chelsea at the Bridge and elsewhere is to give us little or no space. Man city forgot to do that.
Before you start bringing heaven down, wait till we show on a consistent basis this form and get this kind of result on a more regular basis.
By the way, I have seen us pre Mour, in the days of Gullit, Vialli and Ranieri play with such abandon. One time we did that and routed Man U 5-0. But still we failed to achieve much at the end.
Playing with abandon therefore should not be the aspiration. But showing that the steel, resolve, discipline and winning will instilled by Mour can be enhanced by a more adventurous spirit without diminishing those great qualities that have made us most feared squad all over the planet. If Tein cate can help us attain that, I will love him.
I think it’s very pretentious of those that attack Grant and claim that he’s not good or not smart!
Why? Well… lets start with the fact that none of you knows shit about him! I doubt that Abramovich would have allowed a moron to take over the team! Leave the blind passion away for a moment and think straight… even if thinking might hurt some!
Also important to see that Grant does something that Jose never could… gives credit to those who deserve it:
“I must say the players have great attitude, and are the main stars here. I have a very good staff, including my two assistants who did a great job.”
For the entire quote go to:
http://www.chelseafc.com/
I’d like to see ONE quote where Jose praised anyone but himself!
I loved Chelsea before, love it even more now!
Forgot to make a mention about the poor refereeing provided (as usual) by Mike Riley!
We should have had a first penalty when Hamann hacked down Drogba, and a second one when Kalou was tripped by Dunne in the box.
Also the yellow to Essien was rather harsh!
where are all the aresenal fans who are usually on here ? they are now being very quiet i think
sorry arsenal
GO CHELSEA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
attacking football at last
attacking and smart defensively
hey guys give Grant some credit atleast
look roman would not have given grant the club without looking AT his management skills
atleast he has something no manager in THE EPL has i.e
GIVE CREDIT TO OTHERS RATHER THAN HIMSELF ALL THE TIME
HE DESERVES SOME CREDIT AND SUPPORT BACK FROM US
HE IS JUST DIFFERENT FROM JOSE ,HE IS RESERVE ,QUIT BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY EFFECTIVE .
THIS IS THE TYPE OF GAME WE ALL WANT CHELSEA TO PLAY
EVERY TIME WE ATTACCK WE MUST LOOK LOKE A THREAT TO SCORE
I LOVE CHELSEA EVEN MORE THAN BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!
BLUES FOR LIFE
TO ALL ARSENAL FANS WRITTING HERE
STOP HIDING AND HAVE SOME GUTS TO ACCEPT WE ARE GOING TO KICK SOME GUNNERS WHERE IT HURTS
NOW BLOG HERE
nice chealsea egypt with u and love u drogba sheva & lampard
don’t cry lehmann
Guru you’re wanking like a headless horse in ecstasy.
Apology your ass, the fans’ response was normal.
Right now
The team did a great job, but we’ll have to see how consistent
the form will be.
You’re so excited that you start to talk stupid, like ‘JM isn’t good enough to take us to next level?’ JM is one of the best.
Be happy but don’t try to act like you know more than you do;)
go grant go-we love u
Just found out the score, so great! Oh, wish I could have seen it. Go Blues!!!
well guys
It seems as if Avram is not that moron you were all predicting right after that press announcement 6 weeks ago. Joe Cole looks free at last, essien is aiming at last, Lampard is Lampard at last, and.. at last: more passes, great movement , honestly, we could have made it 10:0 . Go Avram, Copenhagen Blues are behind you!!
wow 4 of our goals were nut megs! lol, amongst other reasons, if the keeper was a bit more on form it could have been a very different game!
thats what chelsea is made of,we did a good job(what man u couldnt do),all the players were wonderful,i think my man of the match award goes to lampard, the pass to drogba was amazing(where did he learn that from?),mikel was fantastic, essien was awesome, the wings were flying(thanks to joe and salomon),the defence was a wall.doubt if ashley cole would have played better than ferriera did at the left full back position(he was etxraordinary).Go chelsea!!!,the sky is our limit…

With that annihilation of man city,we have succeeded in saying “PREMIERSHIP BEWARE”…
CHELSEA 4 LAIF
The game was excellent! My wife was ready to run me out of the house I was yelling so loudly as she was trying to sleep till noon over here. Credit must be given to the following players:
1) Alex and Paulo- Not regulars on the back line. But,they held their own.
2) Essien and Mikel- They ran the midfield with Lampard. Great goal from the Ghanaian.
3) Joe Cole- The hardest working winger in England. I hope he is healthy all season.
4) Lampard- Played with fire and leadership after the incident with Richards. Terry had better worry about his arm band.
5) Drogs- Enough said.
The announcers kept talking about Grant and ten Cate giving the players more freedom to create things on the field. If this is a foretaste of what is to come, heck, the Prem is very possible!
I’m pulling for Arsenal Sunday!
Should we appologize to Grant and RA for our negative reaction to the firing of Mourinho? I can’t speak for everyone. But, I confess I overreacted with anger fear and doubt. And, yes, one demolition of Man City is NOT the same as 2 Prems, 2 Carlings, 1 FA, 1 Shield, and no home losses in 3 years. But, Grant is proving he is not following orders to start Sheva every game. The addition of Ten Cate to the staff has been a good one. I do miss Jose’s enthusiasm and arrogant swager. But, a manager who will shut up and let the team do the talking on the pitch is not a bad thing. I repent of my overreaction and pray that Grant can continue to lead the team to victiories like this.
Calling out arsenal fans are we?ha ha ha.please spare us from this utter nonsense.one win?6 0?and 10 points behind by tmr.united vs arsenal this season ,fight with pool 4 fourth.thanks and cheers lads!support pool!it wont make no difference to fabregas!
To all chealse Fans
first i want to admire the way the team looks
second i want to ask all of you (those who hate grant and those who start to understand the mans know his job) to stand behind the team, its been so long time since i saw such a good game from chealse, and for me – one person is responsbile, “grant”.
the man made a promise and the man is keeping his words. the man also give the players confidance and they love playing for him. when you seen any coach talking and encouraging his players like grant?
i think we allllllllll have to appologise to him
go chealseeeeeeeee
What a performance. Total domination and the scoreline shows it. Every player gave 100% and it showed as there was barely any slip ups. I thought Paulo Ferreira was absolutely superb at left back today, as well as the whole back line who were solid as ever. And this is without JT!
Lampard and Essien .. both had an amazing game. Both got a couple of great assists (Lampard’s pass for Drogba’s first was perfect!) and Essien got a deserved goal. Pity Frank didn’t get one, I was expecting it to happen any time! Drogba was, well, at his best. Precise touches for his goals and the assist(s) he got. Even Kalou had a good game, made some great runs but still managed to sky one shot over the bar! At 5-0, I was thinking that it would be the perfect day for Chelsea if Shevchenko scored .. and he duly delivered. In the 20 or so minutes he was on, he played really well. Only gave up possession I think once, when his shot was blocked. Mikel was as solid as ever, doing the simple things perfectly. And then Joe Cole, great goal for him to cap of a great game.
So all in all, even though City’s defending was distraught, Chelsea played superbly and this is the perfect scoreline to boost our season.
Its been a long time a team gave Chelsea so much space and time on the ball. Guys hold down the ecstasy till you see us play a more compact and combative team and spank them before swooning in ecstasy.
well this is attacking football, i am sure ten cate had a littile hand behind this kind of formation, with front 3 given full freedom to make space, eto, ronaldhinio, messi at barca. well majority of the press has been behind our back for almost 2 years saying we dont play beautiful football, well here we show them how to play attacking football. well deserved win in every sense. solid performance from every single player and there seems to be a great team spirit building up after the shcok departure of jose.
hoping for a arsenal- liverpool draw. blackburn rovers vs spurs , hoping for another draw there, or spurs edge by a goal.
What’s this apology thing ?
First they gotta get us 2 Premierships, 1 FA and 2 League cups on the trot, Then they gotta take over a lesser team like Tottenham and win the Champs league
then I’ll apologize.
C ‘mon just because we like JM doesn’t mean we hate AG.
BTW AG looked much better in a that nifty suit, don’t you think?
The team looked in very good gear last night, very good and I hope this run continues and that AG has tactical wiles when up against the big boys.
today everyone played very well , Ferreira was very good . Lampard was fantastic. I am happy that sheva scored.
“They never thought they could score two second half goals at the Bridge against a confident Chelsea team with Terry, Belletti, Ferreira and Bridge, who were protected by their midfield and if City come through these names they had mighty Petr Cech to beat. “
LOL…mistake….chelsea played with carvalho alex belleti and ferriera
Without being too carried away with the 6-0 thrashing of Man C, I really sincerely think that the game signals a crucial turning point in CFC history. All the players were playing much more liberated and with imagination. Apart from the usual performers, I’m especially pleased with the way Ferreira was allowed to play, he makes some wicked crosses in front of goal. As he also showed in the CL game wednesday night. Shevas goal looked the type of goals he made by the shedloads in Italy.
So overall I’m a very happy CFC supporter and looking forward to a great season. Optimism is back again, thank you players for a superb display.
Oops! That happens when I write well past midnight! Hope I’ve not praise Diarra’s contribution anywhere. lol! Thanks Jo! Now corrected.
lampard made an great game the second assist was amazing, essien had a very good game too with assist and one goal.. we must continue now and win all next matches..congratulation to Avram Grand and Henk Ten Cate..!
Hi Guys,
Brilliant Game..Great Performance all round..
I would like to see if we can maintain this flow over a couple of games or if it was just a one off performance..the next 2 matches we play arent too tough.Liecester City n Wigan Athletic..We should easily be able to score 3 or 4 goals if we play yesterday..
so lets wait n watch the consistency of this flowing football
I am really happy that Sheva scored..the entire team was great..not a single flaw to point out..However i feel the defence can be even more solid
I hope Liverpool Beat arsenal today..Arsenal is just running away the pack..someone needs to stop them..
Liverpool this week n United next week..lets see if the Guneers can come through with flying colours
6-0 what more can I say but credit to the team, for Pool & Arsenal match a draw would be the perfect result
good game buddy……….u ppl r comin up to our level……but can u do that consistently
Good to see the more down to earth observations. CITY WERE SHITE!!!
It was unbelievale how much space they gave us. And we gave them plenty as well, so even though the scoreline was fantastic and we played well, we should just enjoy the result and stay real. There won’t be too many teams playing half as bad as Manc City did yesterday.
I just cant believe my eyes when i logged on to this and see the changes. This is beautiful . good work
Great modificatons BC. is that your version of the Ten Cate’s expansive football? LOL…..
I cannot believe am supporting Looserpool today, GrrRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Liverpool 1 up——-
Now That’s Entertaining!!!
The last time I saw something above three in the goal-scoring tally was when we played Hull city in the Carling cup. If I am not mistaken it was only last year that we were able to achieve that feat however the rest of our season was a low scoring one & when I say that I can assure my self that our last feature program against Man City was “Absolutely Entertaining” (I’m saying this with a huge grin on my face).
If you someone remembers what I had written in my last comment, I guess some one up there in the blue hierarchy read it & took notice of the fact that;
“More goal scorer’s will get you more goals however more striker won’t get you anywhere”.
I hope most of you saw the game; 90 Minutes of fantasy football at your service via satellite links across the Blues household, courtesy of a poor showing by Sven’s eleven which can be referred here as the loosing eleven. Being an English fan I was always frustrated by the way Sven played the English squad for a good 8 years, so it was a personal triumph to see his side getting a trashing. Lets discuss the game & what felt like a miracle parade one by one;
1- Post JM, I was really skeptical and most of you would have read my mind when I said things that did not show a lot of confidence in the new management headed by Avram & the owner Roman. The last game has changed my opinion about what the vision is about Entertaining football at the bridge. During the JM era it was more to do with the campaign than individual games so whenever we wining 1-0 or even 2-0 that’s where the maestro decided to rest & reshuffle the squad to protect the points & the players as you guys can remember the injury list was piling ever so much. JM always knew what he wanted to achieve at the club so he would make sure the team won at all cost, even if it was a little lack lustre.
2- Induction of AV & than later Ten Cate shows the Dutch influence on the team already. We always had a great squad apart from a few screw-up deadwoods however now there is a big difference in the way we are approaching each game, one word to describe it “Aggression”, we always had the killer instinct to finish of games but this style is new to the Blue fans when we defend or make sure to take the ball possession more or less around the half way line & keep on pushing forward through the wings. This is a new style where you have a really strong midfield that tries to take the possession of all loose or contested balls supported by the right & left backs. The central defense is also playing a little forward which gives the wingers & the strikers the liberty to go in deep without worrying about getting back to get possession of the ball. Is it better than what we were used? For me Yes & No both. Yes because it’s more fun even if defensively Man City weren’t looking good at all & No because it’s too early to make the comment on whether this change is long lasting or not & how other clubs will respond to our blitz attacking style.
3- Ten Cate drops in & passing improves ahead of the field. Good induction of this Dutch.
4- The formation remains the same 4-3-3 however more freedom to move, defensively Clarke has re-designed the blues which makes them more resilient however the concept of strong central defense around Terry & Ricardo was always in JM’s master plan, this time around the two backs try to take the ball from the midfield, does make sense for me.
5- Team selection has definitely changed, JM was a mastermind in selecting the right mix however in the later half of his career the collision course with Roman made him select players against his wishes especially the amount of field time that was given to Sheva who was playing miserably. After AV’s induction I do see a positive change in the selection department most noticeably since he has started selecting players on merit & performance and we can all see how things are improving in the squad as there is no conceptual or personality clash with Roman, if you could give that to JM things could have been a lot different. The game against Man City showed some of what I have said earlier in this point;
Ø Malouda still hasn’t recovered from the shock of JM leaving the club & his on-field presence shows that so no good to have him play until & unless he does not feel well.
Ø Maka wasn’t a featured attraction in the previous regime however I feel really good about his defensive mid-fielding form, seeing him getting playtime is fabulous.
Ø Kalou is still being preferred over several other players as AV is recognizing his potential.
Ø Sheva is getting the idea of what a real benchwarmer is supposed to do. Until & unless he does not come out of this psychological problems we cant have him playing. Surely enough they are working on him with special sprint trainers and all so lets see if we can witness change of fortunes.
Ø Ben haim given central defensive responsibilities earlier in the season has been moved out to the dugout for more bench warming duties & has been justly replaced by Alex.
Ø Alex a worthy replacement for Terry or Ricardo especially when you see his goal against Boro & his strong presence in the air.
Ø Paulo & Belleti are playing really good in their positions however I feel that Bridge is better than all the left backs available, hope we see his talents in action soon.
Not seeing Glen in the defense actually makes me worried for the lad who might just make it to the international team soon.
6- Focusing on the last game I would like to nominate my man of the match which all of you will agree to; Mr. Frank Lampard. After being pushed aside by Gareth Barry in the English squad, Lamps has bounced back in front of the watchful eyes of father (Frank Senior) at the bridge. Frank’s passing accuracy and great top of the D strikes were unbelievable, like always I will argue with anyone on the subject of Lamps Vs Stevie in the English squad on the basis of Franks versatility & never say die attitude. What a comeback by Frank.
7- Joe Cole is showing us is trickery once again & is sprouting back into form after the long injury run he had last season.
This comment can go on & on, let me just summarize by saying the below;
1- I hope we can keep this kind of form till the end of this campaign.
2- Avram still isn’t JM no way near him especially in the style department, awful looking overcoat he wore on the sidelines.
3- Ten Cate is the right man for the job especially I like his boot camp styled discipline & no-nonsense attitude along with his dressing sense.
4- Ramos can make Spurs challenge us in London.
5- If an unhappy Drogba can play like this wait till you see the happy one.
6- Arsenal might look intimidating however they have no bench to support such a long campaign which might be just what the doctor ordered for the blues.
7- Rafa might not be able to coach Liverpool for long so we can improve on our table rankings very soon.
8- Avoid any sort of mass exodus by the player’s in the January transfer window.
So be it EPL or CL one thing is certain;
“You need to support & trust what is going in the glass towers at the bridge!!”, Long live the Blues!!!!
God
some ppl here are full of S…..
Lets face it ,if Avram was to lose or drow 2-3 games out of last 7wins you would all cradit him for being crap ,i can only imagen the style and words some of you would use.
now when the team wins and more importent the team play fantastic , this ppl can’t be brave and give him the cradit for that.
Now its cata …LOL he gets the cradit from the losers how can’t say they where worng.
Cata is in the team cuz avram wanted him , We would feel cata’s work only if a great manager as avram will let him work ,let him put is fingertips on the taem game.so far it looks like avram doing so.other wise all the cradit will be avram’s.
MourofEssien- i am not sure what do you like better ‘ loveing this team or heteing Grant,
Poor you
Oh wow!!!
Impressive victory I will admit!
Advice to you all……..Dnt get carried away!!!
ManCity was very very poor!
It was a pathetic performance by them to say the least!
Godd win by Chelsea tho!

Impressive win for us.
Isreali@79
Grant cant be credited cos we saw what he did in the game against Man u and fulham and it wasnt impressive. The games he won thereafter(Valencia nd Bolton) were won by a typical JM style so what has been different-Henk Ten Cate.
Israeli@79,
let avram go off for six weeks and see if we will achieve any less. cate is around cos of grant? do not make me laugh! The bootlicking puppet has nothing to say about that.
people claim he is independent cos he is benching Sheva. Sheva’s form has been so terrible that even my grand mum would bench him if she were managing us. Haim has not been that bad but alex is clearly ahaed of him in perking order- son another obvious decision that even a simpleton should be able to make.
Credit Grant? For what?
Hey guys,
Whether this is Ten Cate’s or Avram Grant’s work let’s give credit to both.
Don’t forget that Ten Cate works better as an assistant than a manager. Barcelona did miracles when he was assistant of Rijkaard. But Cate was not that successful as a manager in Ajax lately.
So let Grant and Cate work together. At least Grant listens to Cate, what JM would never do.
And yes, let’s not be too carried away with the last performance.
Some words about Arsenal.
Yesterday I watched Liverpool-Arsenal game and let me say that game was very beautiful. My special praises go to Arsen Wenger! I really like this man. Credit is where it’s due. The man is a football genius. Arsenal has been playing very attractive and sexy football from the start of the season. And I enjoy watching those steps, passes, dribbles, combinations and goals.
If Chelsea doesn’t win PL or CL this season, I would like those titles to be won by Arsenal.
