Club football is back. The last time Chelsea suffered back-to-back defeats was after winning the title in 05-06 and one of the two teams that defeated us then was Blackburn Rovers. Worry not, as there is another good piece of info. Blackburn Rovers are in an unbeaten run of 14 domestic matches and the last match they lost, was to Chelsea, when Ballack scored that extra time winner in the FA Cup. Expect a very exciting match this time too.
After a fortnight long break, particularly after a defeat, playing at home is the best thing to happen to us. Also, Jose can be relieved that all his players are back in good condition with more match practice. I guess he has a fairly large number of fit players to choose his eleven against Blackburn.
If there are a couple of players I badly want to see on pitch, and preferably to start, are Shevchenko and Joe Cole. Sheva scored yesterday against Italy in Ukraine’s 2-1 loss. If Sheva still does not make an appearance tomorrow, there’s something seriously wrong in his relationship with Jose. I don’t want Jose to pick Pizarro ahead of fit and just-scored Shevchenko. That would be gross injustice for a player of his calibre in this fitness and form. I’ll be grossly surprised if he does not partner Drogba on Saturday. That said, Drogba himself is fighting to be fit for the match.
This is how the official Chelsea website reports on Sheva’s game against Italy:
Andriy Shevchenko was in dangerous form against his old rivals from Serie A as Ukraine played Italy at home. The Chelsea striker hit the crossbar, forced Gianluigi Buffon into further saves and swept in a 71st minute equaliser after Italy failed to clear a corner. It was his 34th international goal on his 76th appearance.
Essien and Mikel will man the central midfield with Joe Cole and SWP on either sides. Against Russia, Joe Cole was little wasteful with his heavy touches but was always very lively and dangerous. Going by how Malouda has been playing of late, in comparison with Joe Cole, the Englishman should easily get the nod. In defence, Terry and Alex will be at the centre while Ashley Cole and Belletti should be the full backs. Belletti was quite decent and it’s worth giving him another chance.

This match is of real significance as this comes after a rare Chelsea defeat and also at a time, teams like Liverpool and Arsenal are enjoying an unbeaten run and lying above Chelsea in the table. At least, one good thing is that the rest of the big four also have tough away matches – Liverpool at Portsmouth, Man Utd at Everton and the famous London derby at White Hart Lane. I’m really looking forward to the north-London derby especially after Darren Bent spiced up with this cheeky remarks on Henry’s sale.
Like Jose said earlier, this season would see the most exciting of title races of recent times. And, as you know, my guess is that the champion would end up with not more than 85 points. In these circumstances, Jose hints that Chelsea would still go for winning every competition that they participate.
I cannot see the difference between defending a title and trying to win a title back. When you win the title, in the next season you want to win every game to be champions again and retain the title. When we lose the title we want to win every game to bring the title back to Chelsea, I don’t see the difference. For us the aim of every competition and every game is to win but of course we cannot win every game, of course we will draw, of course we will lose, but the approach to every game is no different.
Also Jose, once again, talks about his admiration of the Premier League. He calls it the best league, more from the competitiveness point of view.
I think winning the Premier League is always a big achievement, I think it is one of the best leagues in the world. Forgive me Spanish and Italians but for me it is the best. I feel in this moment the Premier League is the best league in the world, improving year after year. It is a big achievement to win, like I think it’s a big achievement for the teams at the bottom to survive and not be relegated. For people to achieve objectives in the Premier League, it is very difficult.
I always wanted to see a kind of tournament or a match-up among all the newly promoted teams in various leagues to really see teams of which league are superior. Of course, we have the champions league for the top teams but that always does not tell the story.
And there is this interesting news that Chelsea is very close to sign a Portuguese wonderkid Aliu Djalo, for some reason, also known as Kaby. He is an attacking midfielder and he is reportedly valued by Chelsea at 5 million pounds.
Well, what do I expect from this match, a clean sheet to start with, and then may be Sheva on the scoresheet. There are a lot of things I expect outside of this match – Tottenham, Everton, Portsmouth – all scoring thumping wins. We’ve had such days before!

Weres scott sinclair?
Joe cole, Malouda and swp must all start the game.
Therfore, I am hoping that Jose drop Mikel, as he is a defensive minded midfielder, so that Joe cole can fill that spot. Otherwise, it would be much like the game against Villa.
That’s what Mikel has become under Jose. When he joined, he was not as defensive as he is now. Moreover, this kid has brains. If Jose clearly instructs him that he has play a central midfielder’s role and not a defensive midfielder’s role, I guess he has in it to really come up with the goods.
Joe Cole, Malouda and SWP starting means one has to be in the centre. I pity him, whoever it is, as it is not quite their cup of tea. Joe Cole in the central midfield, with players from all directions against him, will find it little difficult to bring out the best from him. That’s my feeling.
Perfect time/place for Ballack, but unfortunately, he’s not around.
It’s been sad without Sheva. I miss him. He’s a talisman up-front. The decision of Jose has bewilderred me, and somewhat turned me off. It’s a crime in Sheva and our rights. If he doesn’t play, then certainly, Jose needs to be questioned and/or made to play him.
blackburn is the hardest team to play with their rough tackling… god bless sheva if he plays … atleast we can have some relaxation as savage is injured.
sheva should definitely start and play full 90 minutes… that will be the moment of the season when he start firing.
im having a feeling this game is gonna ruled by essien………!!!
santa cruz will give terry and alex and hard time…!!
heard Dorgba is unfit…. Hope Joe Cole plays. JM would prefer Moulda I think. I also think Pizzaro or koalu will get the nod ahead of Sheva.
by the way BC… what happened to the videos.. I am missing them. Remember you used to provide videos of the games in the previous years…
Chelsea – Blackburn
I am always afraid of this team for two reasons. First, they are really good at attack. Second, they play very harsh and dirty. You should be lucky to finish a game versus them without any injuries.
Unfortunately, most of teams believe that they can come to Stamford Bridge and not lose and even score. That’s what we gifted them, and we have to take it back by good performances which are not going to happen in or next weeks, it takes time but I am sure it will happen. Blackburn won Manchester City and we lost to Aston Vila , so it is easy for Mark Hughes to take advantage of that and boosts up his players.
According to news Drogba is injured, I have no idea if Carvaliho and Lampard are ready or not, but I feel Drogba will be ready and Lampard as well.
I want Mourinho to train his team physically for this game , I am sure he did so because he is aware of the style of Blackburn. I was the first one who said Malouda should not start next game after our defeat versus Aston Vila but I take it back , Malouda should start this game because he plays very physically and what we need in this game.
Mourinho should choose 4-4-2 . we have to congest middle of the field where Blackburn has many violent and physical players , I believe winner of this game is the team that wins middle of the field.
My favorite player in Blackburn is David Bentley.
——————– Cech ———————-
Belletti——Alex———Terry——–Ashly
SWP ——–Essien—–?????—–Malouda
—————Sheva—–Drogba————–
????? : I don’t know if Lampard play or not.
If he did not play we could use Mikel ro even Sidwell there. I personally go for Mikel because he is stronger than Sidwell ( physically).
Mourinho should choose Sheva for sure. I saw his game versus Italy, he played like a legend, he did everything. I am sure Mourinho will give him a chance, if he did not , It would not mean he has problem with him. I don’t think mourinho is that kind of managers. Chelsea wins make him happier than me and you so he will do his best and use what he has to win more games.
My Prediction : Draw ( without Lampard )
Win (with Lampard)
My Selection for Blackburn visit is as follow:
————cech——————
Belleti–Alex–Terry—-Ashly
Swp — Essien –JoeCole–Molouda
———sheva–Drogba————
That should be if drogba is fit and ready to play. But if otherwise Pissaro should start with sheva. I know it will be too much for joe Cole in the midfield but the midfield position can be rotated between joecole and Molouda and with Swp , this will allow us to be more creative in the midfield and be able to supply a very good pass to the strikers. Essien should play holding role. We did lack creativity at villa park and none of the attacking players dare shoot outside Box. So i believe with that selection and all the players fire on all cylinder we should be should be too much to handle for them.
Blues for life. I am predicting a 3 – 1 win
i just hope we keep a clean sheet… always we are taking the first blow and then chasing. hope to see better on set pieces… not just blindly direct it to terry … a goal of a free kick would be awesome…!! any place for sinclair yet? i like that kid…
i think jose will start with sidwell with black burn rather than mikel even if mikel may be physically tougher….

@Blue Champion

this news is most likelyto clear ballack’s currentsituation…………though the link is of tribal……………..it quotes from the telegraph…………it’s a biguk daily
Drogba is out.
according to skysport news , Mourinho can not count on Drogba in this game.
So, I think Shevchanko and Kalou will start ,
Sheva and Kalou played together before and they were dangerous.
Lmapard is definitely out, I hope we win without him.
Jose has two choices Mikel , Sidwell. it is up to Mourinho and their performances in training sessions.
Jose should not use Joe Cole as CM in this game becasue Joe Cole is not so physically to be able to overcome players like Pederson, Dunn , Savage and Emerton.
I am a Welsh Chelsea fan I am 17 I have been supporting chelsea since the year 2001 the reason why i started supporting them was because of a few reasons welsh club teams are terrible Zola ,hasselbaink and gudjhonsen what a great combination And also because of Chelsea are a London side I love London. Now lets get to the topic That chelsea preformance was terrible Thats the worst preformence since Ken bates days It was so boring I was glad Roman walked out early That just shows how much he loves the club. Now this is what i would do if i was roman I would Fire mourinho because he dosent believe in attacking football his philosphey is to field a team of physical men with no flair for example Zimmerframe Malouda he so slow his corners are shocking He is no Robben. Robben had youth flair technique charisma and most of all Influence What a loss. Then i would bring in Ronald Koeman Great football player and a attacing manager who derservs a big club. Also i would bring in more flair youthful players like kabby who sounds good Also we need to nurture sinclar. Sheva needs to start tommorow What a legend the reason why he wasnt his normal self was because of mourinho. I used to love Mourinho not any more sack him and bring in koeman.
Hello and congratulations for the fantastic blog. I’m a huge fan [portuguese fan] of Jose Mourinho [fantastic coach] and of course, a fan of de london blues. Chelsea are a amazing team, but the game against Balckburn is really difficult. Lampard and Drogba are injuried and don’t play [are booth ready for Rosenborg?], but i believe the rest of the team are the necessaire quality to take advantage of Rovers.
Good Luck!
ps: Sorry for my bad english:(
i think CHELSEA will win 2-0 (Sheva,SWP)
you all must listen to me!!!!!!!!!!! we need a creative midfielder that must play a free role within the middle else we are doomed. chelsea has an awesome defensive record and we need to up our game a little bit ……or what yall think ?????//
JM doesnt like players that are not defensive minded e.d Sheva and J.Cole but we need one or two of these player…They are both player with flair left within the chelsea rank and file .
this would be my formation against Blackburn:
————————————–CECH————————————————
—-BELLETI———–ALEX———————TERRY—————-A.COLE———
———————————MAKELELE———————————————–
———————ESSIEN———————MIKEL(SIDWELL)———————–
———–SWP————————————————–J.COLE——————
——————————SHEVCHENKO———————————————–
i think tomorrow J.COLE should start ahead of Malouda he’s in better shape i watch France-Scotland n he had a poor game…
any news from Jesper Granhjear?
tough game .Jose has included Sheva in lineup, so sheva plays tomorrow. i m not sure whether he will play full 90 mins. but atleast he will get chance to play.
Alex & Belletti will have tough time against McCarthy,Santa Cruz & Pederson.
My guess 2-1.
Hi Guys..
I hope Sheva n Joe both start todays game…They are in form at the moment n would definitely be able to show that on the field…We cant afford to lose any ground in the title race..we have to win..n i really hope we keep a clean sheet
