England Beats Israel | Other News Roundup

Steve McLaren can breathe easy until Wednesday. His team has won 3-0 against a good Israel team. Other than that, there is not much happening around. If I still have to write about something then read about my new acquisition, Robben’s not-so-interesting ‘parting shot’, why Roman left 2 minutes early in the Villa match and few other things.

I was just watching this England vs Israel match in spells. England started like they were never going to win this match and improved later on, thanks to the Chelsea contingent. The rejuvenated SWP continued his fine form and scored a very good goal from an effective cross from Joe Cole. I couldn’t see the Owen goal but I’m happy for him. I just love this bloke. Hope he gets back and does some justice to Newcastle. All Chelsea players played well and dominated the proceedings and more importantly have finished the match (incl Tal) with no harm to themselves.

Oh yes, I got to see the goals, not the highlights or the full match, just the goals of the much-hyped Villareal vs Madrid match that ended 5-0 for Madrid. With just one viewing, I have to say that, it was pathetic defending than brilliant attacks. The goal by Ruud sums it up. Villareal did not intercept, did not tackle, did not have the zest to stop Real and in short, they were criminally pathetic. Sneijder’s free kick was a gem but the other goals were very poorly defended. Birmingham did better.

From Spain, Robben has something to say about Chelsea, but this one is not quite spicy so has not found any place in Sky Sports or The Telegraph or BBC. Chelsea FC website has this report on what Robben had to say. Among other things, he said:

I have some contact with the players, but for me it was difficult to leave because I had a great time in my three great years at Chelsea and I think I made a lot of friend’s as well.

In my three years I won all the prizes there are to win in England. The FA Cup we won in the end, the Carling Cup twice, the League twice, the Community Shield, so for me that was the highlights.

But of course for me I was unfortunate with injuries and I didn’t have as much impact as I wanted to but that’s life. I want to thank them for all the great support they gave me, it must have been frustrating for them to see me injured so many times. But every time I came back I always got a great reception and a warm welcome, so I want to thank them very much and I really enjoyed playing in front of them every time.

And, there is this hilarious piece on Chelseablog, by Johnathan Dyer on why Roman left 2 minutes early, at the Villa Park. He unleashes his imagination and makes a few guesses why Roman left early, to top it all he calls it ‘the departuregate’ :-)

Elsewhere Sheva is not sure why Jose is not playing him. He says:

I don’t know why Mourinho isn’t playing me - I don’t understand it. But I’m not worried. I will just wait for my chance to come.

Even I don’t understand. If Sheva is fit he should start ahead of Pizarro and Kalou anyday. I don’t think there are two opinions about it. The first-season-syndrome is over and I expect Shevchenko to come back all gun firing.

Finally, me and my mate bought this XBOX 360 thing. Great gaming gadget it is. We were trying hard to get Pro Evolution Soccer 6 but haven’t got it yet. Meanwhile we bought EA’s UEFA Champions League 06-07 game and managed to do with Chelsea what Jose Mourinho has not. Yes, we won it beating Man Utd in the finals, well, in the second attempt, if it makes you happy.

As you should know by now, I’m just crazy about the football video games. I was mad about Football Manager (management simulation game) and then for a few years now, completely a pro-evo addict that I might have played about just 1000 games. Yes I said thousand. If you don’t know much about XBOX 360, Pro Evolution Soccer, EA’s UCL 06-07 etc may be it’s time you had bought all these. Being a football fan, if you’re not playing football on consoles, you’re missing something in life.

Joeblue - you said this in comment # 127 in the previous post - “Jose loves players who r strong , large and mostly stupid”.

No Chelsea fan (any football fan, for that matter) would call his own players ’stupid’. If you can call those footballers who won back-to-back titles in a league like the premier league, how should i call you?????????

you’re the most stupid person i have ever come across. what have you achieved to call my chelsea players ’stupid’???? have you done anything worthwhile apart acting like a joker and ridiculing everyone around and the chelsea players and coach too as if you’re albert einstein!!!!!!!!!!!

you have to explain how you can call our chelsea players ’stupid’????? we all need and demand an explanantion. BC - this guy has gone really overboard, for such kind of chelsea abuse, he should be banned. he hates the coach, he hates the players (calls them stupid), he hates the way we play and he is not a chelsea fan at all. just like a freaking prostitute i say, waiting to find a better wallet . . . my blood boils as he calls our players ’stupid’. rot in hell!!!

JOEBLUE - PLEASE READ THIS - YOU’RE A COMPLETE IDIOT

You shouldn’t say those hard things to another person. Especially that “rot in hell” comment. That was one guys opinion and you have yours. And that was really rude what you said. Even though that Jose comment was overboard. You gave him alot of good explanations of why Jose Mouriniho is a good manager, but I still think that you were very rude to him.

No real surprise that England won Israel. But can anybody tell me who scored the first goal.

I just watched the Italy v France match and I don’t think anybody can say that that match was entertaining.

Hows Uefa Champions league 06/07? I thought I should buy it but my bro said it is a waste of money. He said it is probably the exact same as Fifa 07. He said rather wait until Fifa 08 comes out becoz he knows I collect Fifa’s. So tell me hows it becoz I really feel like buying it.

I’m basically a pro evo fan boy. I have never liked fifa much. I just gave this one a try and it bloody rocks. Game is slow and that helps you to build the attack, wait for the spaces to appear and break the defence through. I was playing co-op with my mate, so it was all the more fun. It has its flaws but it’s quite good and refreshing. The tv-style presentation is brilliant, it really feels like you’re playing/watching champions league!

Sounds cool and I think I should buy it. But I haven’t really liked Pro Evo. I really don’t like Pro Evo because its harder to control your player. But the cool thing about Pro Evo is that the grafics is really cool, they have a camara view, I really prepher there comentry than Fifa’s and that on Pro Evo theres a skill button. But my friend came over to me and I played Pro Evo 6 (Here where I stay that is latest Pro Evo) And I found it disapointing that you can’t create a player. On Fifa I make and rate myself and out of 99 and then play maniger mode and see how much I grow. On Fifa the difficulty is much easier than on Pro Evo.
Also who is your best player in the world?

The thing with fifa is that the gameplay iza bit unreal. pulling of unbelievable impossible saves etc..and the shooting isnt too good either.fifa although has beta atmosphere with commentary and fan noises etc but i take gameplay anyday!and playing against mates is probably the funnest thing to do with a game console

Chelsea doesn’t look as though they are going to compete for the EPL title.

I think it is going to be between Man Utd and Liverpool.

GIGGS I HAVE PS3 ALSO AND PRO EVO IS SET FOR RELEASE LATE OCTOBER!!!! FIFA SUCKS!!
PRO EVO 2008 has a new computer A.I. so as u play with the team more relationships grow and your team will learn to react to eachother!!! i cant wait for this release, Pro evo is by far the most realistic soccer game out there fifa is more suited to the younger teens with its shoot from anywhere capabilties, pro evo u have to think like a player and make touches as if the dynamics of the game were real!

really excited! also look out for assassins creed!!!! not a football game but the gameplay and graphics look breath taking!!!!

good win for england also!!! good to see SWP and JC linking up like the legends they both are! what a ball in!!!
also i think owens goal was good but he should have been on 6 goals last night…not impressed with him, heskey on the other hand was great, after 3 years of not getting in the team, to come on and do so well holding the play up was fantastic….makes me almost regret all them names i called him after world cup haha!
just hope we can do it again on wednesday! come on u lions!!!!!!

http://www.winningelevenblog.com/ - a great blog for keeping up to date with how pes 2008 is doing! I don’t like the display boxes (the windows vista style) but apart from that it’s shaping up pretty great.

Owen’s goal reminded me quite a bit of drogba’s first of many great goals against liverpool last season. Didn’t spin quite as much though.

Micah Richard’s and SWP were bloody brilliant in the game, can’t wait for wednesday :]

Pro evo all the way!
On the England game - is it me or are people suddenly falling over themselves to blindly praise the greatness of SWP?
Yeah he looks a lot more confident and he’s getting a long run in the team and support from management, players, fans etc etc, but how good is he really playing?
I mean COME ON - IN THE COLD LIGHT OF DAY he hasn’t been half as dangerous as Robben going forward. His final ball is far too inconsistant, even though occasionally he does deliver some brilliant ones, and he hasn’t found his sshooting boots at all, at least not for us.
Don’t know about you lot, but praising a player for some improvement is one thing, but suddenly making out he’s the best thing since sliced bread…
Once SWP is scoring for us, and providing real meaningful thrust, not just bursts of random uncontrolled dribbling, that’s when we should be singing his praises the way most people seem to be already.

here comes another pain in the neck , when i play decent everybody has a go at me , if i cal ppl names evrybody wants another go at me , if u ppl want me to remain my brashy self , then dont go and complain evry now and then , if u want me to be decent , u shld be too , if not then i m no shirker or impersonator , i can very well blast my opponents!!!!

even right now i can call u names for butting in like u always do , but i wont cuz i hav drawn a line and i wont cross it , and this is the double standard i always talk abt on this blog , why has BC not yet red carded or yellow carded Samuel????? or has he still not crossed the line , imagine if MD got a card for posting off topic coments , then there r many jokers who impersonate me , try to initiate fights , or like this clown has done ,abuse me!!!!

if there is no higher authority on this blog , then very well i will resort to the usual weapons in my abbetoire , then later dont cry and say , he shld be off the blog etc , but i still kno u all will , trying to act like brave men when i do nothing , and then running to mommies when i start!!!!Pathetic!!!!

JoeBlue, My dear friend. You may not like the african contingent at chelsea, but they are chelsea players and do the job asked of them. They are human beings too.Its not right to call anyone stupid. How do they become stupid if they dont play like kaka or ronaldinho?
You are from India right. How would you feel if someone calls Indians stupid just because India is bad at football?

Samuel,My dear friend. You were upset at JoeBlue’s comments .What he said wasnt right.True.But that doesnt mean you should have said the things you said. That was very bad.

FIFA is the better game, i believe.
But the problem is, they’re short on new features. And Pro Evolution is catching up, if not beating it.

As regards Sheva, I do believe he has little to do when its the default target man striker formation of Jose. And Sheva has played the main striker role beautifully at Milan. Question is, where will Drogba play then? Besides, JM seems to be biased towards superstars. Except Ballack maybe.

guys ………… i did go overboard with some words i cud’ve avoided. apologies for that.

but joe blue . .. my mate . . . you still have to respond to this question: why did you call chelsea players as ’stupid’? i say they are the most intelligent players than anyone else you can think of. essien is more intelligent than ronnie and kaka. intelligence is not just in giving a weighted through pass. it’s also in knowing the match situation and acting intelligently in team objective. essien can adapt and change his game based if we’re leading or trailing or if we need goals or if we should concede etc. he is very intelligent and so are the other players too. and thats how they won two titles in a row.

answer this question: why did you call the chelsea players stupid???

Sep 9, 2007 @ 23:19

@Samuel
Apology accepted.
But can you answer me just one thing. HOW IS ESSIEN MORE INTELLIGENT THAN KAKA? I mean Kaka is a brilliant player who is more intelligent than Essien. Essien is a very good player who is intelligent. Essien’s defending is good. But Kaka is a better midfielder and forward than Michael Essien. Yes I no defending is one of the most important position in soccer but Kaka knows how to control the game. He is also strong, he can create chances for scoring, he can score a goal out of nothing and he plays for the team. He is more concerned about winning a game than showing off to boost his popularity. I’m not saying Essien does that but sometimes Essiens lets you down. Like playing a pass that could easily be intercepted. So if you say that Essien is more intelligent then Kaka then I don’t no.

ps: I’m not saying I don’t like Essien by saying that Kaka is better than him, all I’m saying is the truth.

blue fan - we all must have watched about 50 matches that essien played last season, all 90 minutes of them (some 120). Now how many matches did you see featuring Kaka and did you see all 90 minutes of them or whatever time he played????????

now is this a fair comparison???!!! - when you dont follow kaka like you do with essien, you’re bound to see only the best of kaka, in the news, in the sports shows, in youtube everywhere. you wont get to see kaka’s missed passes and bad tackles and wasted sitters. kaka is a great player but essien is no smaller than kaka.

now the question i want joeblue to answer is: why did you call the chelsea players stupid? either you apologise for these defamatory words or explain. dont run away joeblue………..

Nice name. I’ve watched only the highlights of AC Milan’s games because I mostly enjoy watching my favourite club play matches. I have seen the highlights of AC Milan’s matches and I’ve seen that Kaka never makes mistakes when I watch the highlight matches of AC Milan. Essien is a very good player. I mean he helped us get the win over Birmingham City and last season he levelled both games against Arsenal in the EPL. You right about that they never show Kaka’s mispassing and mistakes. And I’ll watch a match when AC Milan play next and see if he makes mistakes.

i dont mean 2 bring this up again, but i fell a responsibility as an african to school on african footballers and football in general

i was just reading the comments posted in the previous post and this 1, about the comments made by joe blue, regarding “stupid” africans.

i just want 2 point out CREATIVE players, with geat footballing minds who TOALLY CONTRADICT ur point. and show desrepencys in ur statements.

-viera,
-gorge weah
-jj okocha, who at his peak was regarded as the most skillful player in the priemirship.
-eto,
-zidane ( 1 of the if not the greatest player of his generation).(and if u knw anything about football, ud know he is of algirian origin, with french citezenship)

thus 2 generalise all african as just strong, powerful and stupid. quite frankly shows ur inept understanding of football, regardless of how much u think u knw. i think ur arrogane at times knw no boundries. ironically it is similar to jose mourinhio, the man u hate.lol

to call them stupid i think is to do with your an inability to articulate yourself, thus highlighting ur lack of elequence(no insulut, i fink this is the reason y u seem to be constantly misundertood).

thus i urge u 2 take back ur statements, and think carefully b4 u speak. perhaps having a theasurus handy.lol

‘I have to say that, it was pathetic defending than brilliant attacks’….a very very dishonest and biased analysis or should I say inability to understand fluid football from a Chelsea fan used to praise ’solid effective’ football of Mourinho….

well manish, that’s what you call perceptions or opinions! when i looked at the van nistelrooy goal, i was screaming “where is the defence”. that was horrible defending. it’s up to you to agree or not. what do you think the villareal coach would feel looking at that goal? was that an unstoppable goal of attacking brilliance or just a goal that a better defence could easily thwarted?

solid effectiveness was a thing of the 06-07 season. In the previous two seasons under Jose, teams simply could not cope with us, and we were attacking and scoring at will. We had beaten Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal very convincingly and don’t forget the 4-2 win against Barca that was the epitome of attakcing football. Even the group league matches against Barca last season, we had them gasping all along. Amazing stuff. ‘Solid effective’ football when it’s needed. That’s what I call smart football.

Joeblue, the above is a quote from your comments in the previous post. I was pleasantly surprised that you were making sense until that comment. That was highly ignorant and myopic of you and i guess footballguy@ #44 has summarised what you essentially are.

I state it over and over again , i hav not meant that ALL blacks r stupid , just the ones Jose prefers in his team , and as far as i can see neither has Jose ever stated he likes all blacks or hates them , or wants to sign them all , so cant we just give it a rest????
All i meant was that they r STUPID , they r africans and thats a fact , so why r ppl making it a racist coment???? calling africans , africans is not a crime , or being racist!!!! i wld personally never do such a thing anyways!!!!!

Now can we get back to the REAL topic???? which was not abt racial abuses actually!!!! ppl r trying to twist my words every way they can!!!!!
I m happy Samuel has apologized , and that Mourofessien has also accepted my apology , and things r clear , atleast for me , so can we go abt discussing football now????

@Michael M

I think Michael Essien is the best player in the Chelsea squad. Why? Because he is hard-working. He has played many times out of his position and has never moaned. Last season he had equalised the game twice against Arsenal in a crucial stage. But Arsenal isn’t that good but they played real well.
Even though Arsenal is AIG (Arsenal is gay) they played there best against Chelsea and they could’ve beat us. But my man Essien saved us twice.

You can also play him CB, CDM, CM and RM.
He is strong, large and not easy to beat. He is also a professional at long disstance shots.

Who do you think is the best player in Chelsea and why?

joeblue @56 - let me clarify that i’m not accusing you of racist remarks. i’m accusing you of arrogant remarks of calling the African-chelsea players or black-chelsea players as stupid.

drogba
essien
mikel
shaun wright phillips
kalou

this is only 20% of the whole squad and only two of the above start every match. and i’m not twisting your words and i eve quoted you in my earlier comment.

but the question is: why did you call these players stupid?

until you answer or apologise, i’ll keep asking this question. you cannot run away.

@foreverblue #17

I had my thoughts during pre-season, that if Chelsea plays the way they did then we would not have a realistic chance of winning the EPL.

Personally I don’t like people who make predictions, such who is going to win the EPL BEFORE THE SEASON EVEN STARTED for example, because its out of our hands and its a blind guess. Guess right and you’re considered a genuis, but it was plain luck.

My two Chelsea players, whom I consider untouchable are John Terry and Frank Lampard. Yes I consider two players instead of one.

John Terry - He has been rock solid in the three seasons under Mouriniho and has led from the front.

Frank Lampard- Has been the playmaker in the team, scores regularly, takes good corners, basically he takes alot of the responsibility off other players and deserves to be vice-captain.

I’m very sorry I asked you to leave this site, but if you make wild statements about Chelsea like you always do then we can only assume you are a ameteur. honest.

I don’t want you to leave this site.

At your very best, I think you’re most of the time entertaining (when not commenting on Chelsea).

ps: I wasn’t trying to be nasty when I said you were clueless about football, if your comments about Chelsea are so incorrect how can I take you seriously.

Loka Samastha Sukhilo Bhavantu

Hi samuel,JoeBlue did apologise for his remarks.(Post 35).So why dont we all leave it at that.He must be feeling terrible with people bringing it up again and again even after he apologised for his error.
Then,JoeBlue, why dont you and Samuel have a nice decent debate on the african contingent at chelsea? That would be the best way for both of you guys to bury the hatchet and move ahead as good mates.
That would also be an answer to why you consider the african players at chelsea stupid.Maybe you should just make it clear to samuel what you meant by the word ’stupid’.You used the word in one way and samuel saw it in another way.So just talk and clear it up mates.Dont let it drag on.

Peace

Manish @ 50

This is exactly how I don’t want an argument or discussion to lose focus. I was expressing my opinion about the Villareal-Madrid match and slowly we drift away to something else. It is quite possible to discuss about that match without talking about Jose’s ’solid effective football’ and the deflected goals. Hope you get my point.
