What’s all this noise about Ronnie coming to Chelsea? Can Chelsea pull off one of the biggest transfers in football history in the space of 3 days? Why do we need him so badly that we might have to pay him 200,000 pounds a week? Are we becoming (or have become) a galactico team?

Roman has a list of his favourite players whom he wants to see in Chelsea blue. He was always trying to bring Gerrard but he couldn’t. He was crazy about Sheva and here he is. Now, even after Jose’s admission that there weould be no more transfers for Chelsea, there are rumours about Roman chasing Ronaldinho with less than 72 hours to go for the transfer window to close. It is reported that he would cost 85 million pounds but Roman says ‘so what?’.

Do I like to see Ronaldinho as a Chelsea player? Yes and I don’t think any Chelsea fan would honestly say no. Arguably the greatest player now in the world, in all respects and parameters – goals, assists, aids, creativity, skills – simply the best. To see such a player playing for us could be great fun to watch.

Do I think we need him? No, I don’t think we need him now and I’m sure that’s what Jose must be telling Roman too. I don’t know where he would fit, if at all this thing really happens. Malouda is a first team player and on the right the competition is between Joe and SWP. In the middle, Lampard, Essien and Mikel is more than sufficient. Unless there is a last minute sale of a prominent Chelsea player (read Lampard), we’ll find it difficult to accommodate him.

Will we get value for money? No. For what this Chelsea squad already has and for the kind of money we might be paying to him, he would never be able to justify his pay check. As it is, we don’t need him as much as we need Dani Alves. Or in other words, he is not a solution for us as we have no problems in the first place for his positions. He could be a Maradona but we are not Napoli, right?

Will he fit into the Chelsea/Jose regime? No. It’s really difficult to change the mindset of a player like Ronaldinho. To expect him to get back to the line for a defensive header would be asking for too much. May be, the only way to go would be give a free role to him. The other thing is his discipline. You miss the training session and you’re out – no matter who you are, you could be the world player of the year but bad discipline is going to hit you hard at Chelsea.

Will it benefit Barca to sell him? Yes and No. His sale can bring them loads of money, that’s the good part. Also, they have enough quality players for the front three and in fact, I thought Henry or someone else because of Henry’ inclusion, would be a mis-fit. And no because, he is such a talisman that sometimes it’s like playing with 12 men. No team would like to sell for any money, a player this incredible value.

Should we believe in all these rumours? Yes. Then where the heck is fun in transfers. You track every rumour that’s related to Chelsea and talk about it. As simple as that. Just because we’re discussing this does not mean we fully believe this story. Remember, this is not really an ‘unbelievable’ story as such.

Remember one thing, for a story of this size, there is no denial in the official chelsea website. Let’s see how it all goes!
