Lampard: Chelsea For Life | Other News
Short post today. Hardly any breaking news today for Chelsea. Out of some good news and lots of bad news, Lampard has once again confirmed that he would end his career at Chelsea, Drenthe goes to Madrid, Robben is reported to have signed for Madrid and Arsenal gets a new captain. It’s up to you which you consider good or bad.
Lampard has once again categorically stated that he would not look beyond Chelsea. He says:
I’ve told the club I don’t really want to get involved in negotiations which aren’t going to end well while I’m playing football. That’s because this is a big season for me and for the club. My intention is to stay. I’ve got two years left on my contract. I want to stay for the rest of my career. It’s as simple as that.
I hope it gets sorted and that it gets sorted soon, at the end of the season, or the next time we talk - and the club know that. The club know my intentions, and it’s certainly not a money issue. Some figures get banded about, inflated figures, maybe that’s done on purpose - but a lot of that’s not true. Certainly the issues I’ve got with the club aren’t to do with money. This is going to be my last contract, which will finish my career, so I want to get it right.
Did you notice that? Issues are not to do with money! I wonder what could that be then? Length of contract? Possible. Some websites report this as “Lampard postpones contract out of frustation” which is strange as he postpones the new contract discussions, he stays with the club and wants to concentrate on the season which is very important for Chelsea. I don’t how you can understand this as frustration.
Ricardo Carvalho has not surprised anyone with these words:
We have to start well, play well and start winning our games. Starting the Premiership is important, we have our objectives to get and for that we have to play well and win our games. Even in friendly games it is important to win to get condition to play seriously and play well, and now I think we have a lot of injuries but we have a good team and the players are ready.
We must be strong because the injuries have come and you have to be prepared to play. All the players here want to play and we have our chance to help the team and become stronger. Everyone is a big player here so we have to show our strength.
In other news, Drenthe signs for Real Madrid. Though he is a great prospect, he would have been an excess for the moment. We are sufficiently protected on the left side and for the right, we should be waiting for Sevilla to release Alves. Sky Sports also reports (based on the scandalous Spanish press) that Robben has already signed for Madrid.
Sidwell’s admiration of Jose continues. Here he says:
The gaffer himself, his knowledge of the game is second to none and I have enjoyed every session so far. They are not just things that are made up and thrown together, they’re really well thought out and that is why he is the best in the business at the moment.
Arsene Wenger names William Galloss as the captain of the Arsenal team. It is real shock considering people like Gilberto and Toure would be better suited for this role. I’m even more surprised as this has come after all the loud mouthing by this centre back, who loves play left back only at Arsenal.
Okay, I’ll leave you with these videos of Daniel Alves. Keep drooling until the news is published on Chelsea website.

Wow, I can’t wait to see Gallas captain Arsenal to even more faliure. And Alves… What can I say?? That free-kick goal against Barca made me lose my voice… I was cheering for him like I cheer for Chelsea, already before he’s come to our team

great post BC. keep posting on the latest updates. I hope the Alves comes sooner to Chelsea we miss him on the right. Also we dont want Robben saga to continue. If the transfer of Robben does not happen do you think he will be comitted to chelsea and will the team mates and the coach trust him to turn up 100%. I am not so sure.
4. marko
thumbs up all. great news that lampard stays and he can now concentrate on his game.

losing drenthe is very unfortunate. that boy will be a great player in the future. sad that we couldnt get him. as regards robben, i dont care anymore.
6. shotgun
drenthe wont do shit. c’mon guys how long do we know about him. did we know about him last year same month? he was a flash in the under-20 world cup. nothing more nothing less. why we were after him? we wanted a backup fullback, that’s it. if you dot end up getting your target for a backup role, you shouldnt be worried too much. that’s my shot.

i d put my money on robben leaving but ballack staying…robben is termed in the media as being an ‘unsettled’ Chelsea winger..hes been with us for what 3 seasons and u want to call him ‘unsettled’? Plus he’s publicly admitted that hes honored by the Real interest..his ‘injury’ for the last 3 weeks leads everyone to believe that Mourinhos kicked him out of the team and his just waiting to officially announce that Robben is out once the price is finalised.
Ballacks going nowhere though…hes here and thats 100%…and i do think that the money we’ll get for robben (15-23 mil, whatever it is) will go to us Alves. I can smell another Malouda..he desperate from Chelsea, hes just fallen short of begging to join..with him and his Brazilian flair in, not to mention Jose’s 4-3-3 idea and the major use of wingers expected, no ones going to be calling Chelsea’s style of play boring!

I do not cry over Drenthe. Our left side is choked already. Ash, Bridge, Malouda, Kalou and sinclair. The left channel is catered for. robben’s sale should help us boost the right side with alvez.

Its really nice to hear lampard wants to remain at chelsea..:)..n its really sad that Robben is going..he contributed a lot to chelsea over the last 3 seasons..anyway life goes on..chelsea has to move forward..if robben wants to leave..no use tying him down..
drenthe gone..i wouldnt say its a huge loss or anything..
Alves coming in..good if it happens..just hope hes better than glen n paulo ..we need someone who can defend well at Rb n make those surging runs forward when needed
Wat about ALEX????..wats the latest on his move??..Why is taking this much time..The work permit issue was resolved right..so why this delay??
11. onics
and am also surprised why is this Alex saga taking so long to get finalised it will be nice have him and Alves joining our team as for Robben we dont really need him especialy now we have Malouda.
12. SpecialOne
On Alves - if he does eventually come, we will have 3 right backs? This mean leave for Ferreira or Johnson then? What do you guys think?
Good news about Lampsy. And glad about Drenthe, never wanted him to come. =D
13. manishchandra
Lamp staying…bad news…robben leaving…worst news..
Loosing drenthe after pato even after raising bid to 12m….hmm…no one wants to join Mourinho’s ’solid’ football…
14. bigbadblue
ALEX SIGNS …..FINALLY!!!!
15. zubinj9
alves should come and it doesnt mean paulo and johnson to leave…
alves could also play as winger also, and about lamps, he is good to stay but i dont think he deserves a regular first team place…
either jose shud rotate ballack and lamps…
on many occsn we hav seen lamps waisting freekicks… but ballack i think he is better in free kicks than lamps
16. marko
manishchandra - there are people who have joined jose mourinho’s solid football. some really really small footballers like Shevchenko, Ballack, Drogba, Malouda, Essien, Mikel, Pizarro etc. or am i reading out the milan first team sheet?

You, all, should not give up so easily on Robben. He was once called “the golden wing of Chelsea” and I do think that he can still be very valuable to the team. He proved it so many times.. the man can easily be the “impact” that Chelsea needs sometimes in the major games..
Of course Alves would be a great signing, but hell, for Abramovich’s poket we could easily buy him without selling any of our key players.
Robben, don’t leave !
18. Adonis
YES!! We now have The Tank and we’re looking amazing on the back-line. Even without alves, I don’t see a better back-line in the Premiership.
Manishchandra, it’s not a case of people not wanting to come to Chelsea. It’s just that Chelsea doesn’t YET have the pedigree of a club like Milan or Real. We’re the new kids, Pato and Drenthe were most likely watching Milan and Real when they were four and five, not Chelsea. This is what takes time to build, pedigree. But we’re working hard on it, and we’re building up more respect than any club at the moment.
Robben is not needed. Whatever he could give us, Malouda can give more… he doesn’t flop, doesn’t hog the ball, and can play 50 games a season. Forget about Robben folks, he’s pretty much a Madrid player now.

Only Terry, Bridge, and Ballack are out for Sunday. The other injuries seem to be 50-50, which is good news, I suppose. I want to see Alex play in Blue!! It’s in the blood!

im quite nervous about the first premier league match. hope everything goes well.
21. manishchandra
Adonis, what u said I already mentioned in one of my post…what one should remember is that these clubs made their pedigree by playing attacking football, not the one Mourino play.

I disagree in saying that Drenthe would have overcrowded us. He is capable of playing on the right side an could certainly cameo there until we had need of him on the left. There can never be too much talent on a team and Drenthe would have been nice. Of course, so is Sinclair and so is Alves. So is the start of the season. I cannot wait.
24. ashton
i’ll explain you manish
i play badminton regularly. once i had a chance of playing some real good players. my first concern was to win the match. i was not too intent on playing well or impressing them or something. i had this hunger to convince myself that i’m good enough to beat them (in the end, i lost more than i won)
you’re comparing man utd, who had 100 years of affluence and a chelsea, who starting seeing money very recently. man utd, in the early days played crap football and liverpool were playing good football. so what? arsenal in the eighties and early nineties were completely horrible.
i hope you know about evolution, stages of growth etc. we are in a certain stage where we should keep doing what we do now, winning and winning.
I’d be happy to see us win as much as possible for the next 5 to 10 years and than thinking about anything else.

Thanks for the coments, manishchandra, but I’ve already discussed the fact that at the moment it’s not Chelsea’s first priority or strength to play the beautiful football. They need to win, like ashton was saying in his example. Eventually, we’re going to be winning, have a great European pedigree, and play beautiful football. Right now we don’t have the players to do it and therefore must win how we can, with a rigid team and with solidarity. I talked a lot about the strengths of the team, on some other post… You can check there, it was part of my discussion with footballguy. You’re saying the same thing as him, so go read that reply if you care at all about what I have to say…
26. manishchandra
‘Right now we don’t have the players to do it’….I tihnk we have Europe’s biggest names in Chelsea…
27. Adonis
Yes, we do. We don’t have a magician, though. Watching the Bayern game today was fantastic, Ribery is one of the magicians of world football. He was top notch, with many impressive passes and great dribbles and such. Whom do we have that compares to this Ribery, to Kaka, to Ronaldinho?? Not in level, but in that flash and special magic? No one. Some would add sadly to that, but I say not necessarily… We have a fantastic team, and sooner or later we’ll add that flash player. It’s only a matter of time.
Great post man, keeping me updated as per usual! It is strange about Lamps ay, maybe he is waiting until he starts playing like the Lampard we know and love not like crap to sign his deal. Hopefully that is Sunday
Ha-ha, so funny to see Galloss as Arse captain this year. Fits well if u ask me lol.
