It makes me sad to write a post about this topic but I simply can’t ignore it. I observed that there were a chain of discussions, debates and arguments under the community shield match analysis post, which were in intolerably poor taste.

I’ve also been informed privately by some that such obscenity has been creeping up in the blog and the indiscipline and indecency is ruining the whole atmosphere. Well, having read through all (250+) comments, I need no one to tell me that some of those comments are utter disgrace. It was certainly not an intellectual debate among grown up people.

I won’t surely enjoy policing the blog but I’m left with no choice. I’ve decided to take or have already taken some actions against this ‘blog pollution’. Here they are:

Now I have tried to strengthen the comment moderation program that any comments with untoward words would end up in a moderation queue for me to check and take action, that is when I have time.

Also the commenters who repeatedly resort to such kind of language would unconditionally (meaning not even listening to their side of the story) be put into moderation permanently. None of their comments would be published until I read them and okay them, again, when I have time.

If the behaviour persists and is incorrigible, they (irrespective of who it is) would be banned from making any more comments in this blog. I’m absolutely serious and more than a dozen have been banned already from this blog over a period of time. All the while I had to ban only the anti-Chelsea nuts but if I have to do this against a fellow-blue, it’s unfortunate, but I’d do it.

The very reason for all this flame and flare and intolerance are basic mindsets such as

(i) ‘my opinion is the most correct one/the only correct one’

(ii) ‘I know more football than you’

(iii) ‘I’m too intelligent’

(iv) ‘You talk nonsense because you don’t agree with me’.

Sometimes, it is a combination of one or more of this and in worst cases, all of these. It’s so ridiculous that in some of these comments, we haven’t even shown the basic manners that we show to a disagreeing stranger in person. No such indecency would be tolerated in this blog. For clarity, an abusive comment in response to another, does not absolve you of your mistake.

Remember this golden rule:

Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person

And for the rest who don’t indulge in such shameful abusive nonsense, my request to you is to report to me whenever you find an objectionable post through the contact form with the post title and comment number. I’d take that into account for warning or banning them.

I hope I have made myself very clear here. C’mon guys! We aren’t that bad. Let’s keep this place neat and clean. When you’re in BlueChampions, I want you to get this pleasant feeling, like you’re in a friend’s party and you’re chatting with your buddies on football and Chelsea. Enjoy your stay and have some fun, but not at the cost of anyone else’!

And yes, I’m eager to see your response to this post. Am I being reasonable or harsh?
