It makes me sad to write a post about this topic but I simply can’t ignore it. I observed that there were a chain of discussions, debates and arguments under the community shield match analysis post, which were in intolerably poor taste.
I’ve also been informed privately by some that such obscenity has been creeping up in the blog and the indiscipline and indecency is ruining the whole atmosphere. Well, having read through all (250+) comments, I need no one to tell me that some of those comments are utter disgrace. It was certainly not an intellectual debate among grown up people.
I won’t surely enjoy policing the blog but I’m left with no choice. I’ve decided to take or have already taken some actions against this ‘blog pollution’. Here they are:
Now I have tried to strengthen the comment moderation program that any comments with untoward words would end up in a moderation queue for me to check and take action, that is when I have time.
Also the commenters who repeatedly resort to such kind of language would unconditionally (meaning not even listening to their side of the story) be put into moderation permanently. None of their comments would be published until I read them and okay them, again, when I have time.
If the behaviour persists and is incorrigible, they (irrespective of who it is) would be banned from making any more comments in this blog. I’m absolutely serious and more than a dozen have been banned already from this blog over a period of time. All the while I had to ban only the anti-Chelsea nuts but if I have to do this against a fellow-blue, it’s unfortunate, but I’d do it.
The very reason for all this flame and flare and intolerance are basic mindsets such as
(i) ‘my opinion is the most correct one/the only correct one’
(ii) ‘I know more football than you’
(iii) ‘I’m too intelligent’
(iv) ‘You talk nonsense because you don’t agree with me’.
Sometimes, it is a combination of one or more of this and in worst cases, all of these. It’s so ridiculous that in some of these comments, we haven’t even shown the basic manners that we show to a disagreeing stranger in person. No such indecency would be tolerated in this blog. For clarity, an abusive comment in response to another, does not absolve you of your mistake.
Remember this golden rule:
Don’t say anything online that you wouldn’t say in person
And for the rest who don’t indulge in such shameful abusive nonsense, my request to you is to report to me whenever you find an objectionable post through the contact form with the post title and comment number. I’d take that into account for warning or banning them.
I hope I have made myself very clear here. C’mon guys! We aren’t that bad. Let’s keep this place neat and clean. When you’re in BlueChampions, I want you to get this pleasant feeling, like you’re in a friend’s party and you’re chatting with your buddies on football and Chelsea. Enjoy your stay and have some fun, but not at the cost of anyone else’!
And yes, I’m eager to see your response to this post. Am I being reasonable or harsh?

Hey BC,
Good idea mate. I love your website, your posts are awesome and always (fairly) neutral in regards to Chelsea’s play etc. Down in Aus its great to have a place to come and read some Chelsea only news and watch some highlights of matches cause we don’t get much down here. Lately some of the comments have been going a bit far though.
Keep up the great work mate.
completely with you. this blog would be a brilliant place without those childish fighting showered with abuses. good step ahead BC. I support you and I will also report you if i find something wrong. KTBFFH
i apologise BC. i shud take a fair share of the whole nonsense. i promise i won’t do such things in future even if i’m provoked. sorry guys, if was pain in the b… (can i say that? lol)
Seriously guys, i’m sorry that i’ve been little overboard. please never ever ban me BC, i’ve just started posting. i love this blog. i’m crazy about this place.
in particular to guys like joeblue, M_D etc, let’s forget that episode and lets talk chelsea with no hatred.
great post BC.
Well BC I told you we needed a ” Fight of the Week ” column or something .
The stuff does make the blog lively but you gotta do whatcha gotta do , I guess.
I myself have been guilty of the above transgressions but let us bash the Aresy and ManUres that insult us.( wihout the expletives ,of course)
honestly , I love discussing with others over soccer but as long as they respect me. unfortunatly , these days I don’t have time to read all posts in order to find out who is swearing or … but I think “WARN” is enough .
About time, my friend. About time. It’s such a turnoff, coming to discuss Chelsea and getting stuck in a fight. It’s childish, we need to cut it out. It ruins a fantastic blog.
I, obviously, enjoy the site and the writing. The incessant childish namecalling and unmitigated arrogance shown by some is unneeded in a discussion of football. I vote for the ban.
i’m with you BC. it’s such a relief that you’ve action so soon. like adonis said, it’s about time. great post btw. i’m impressed with your approach. let’s KTBFFH!
super post BC. we’re all with you. this blog can be a lot better place without all those silly fights slowly becoming kinda brawls. if i see anything like that again i’ll report to you.
MD, scott-sinc has extended the olive branch already. Wot are you going on about?
M_D, that is the kind of post for which there is no need. Come off it a bit and just talk football and I think we would all be more content.
bluegal,
scott_sinc appologized because he got scared of being banned by BC
Now he will know that he speaks rubbish.
He should appologize for this.
bluewinner,
Sheva’s disallowed goal is a part of football.
So I’m talking about football.
Ok. I just rather prefer a friendly atmosphere. We can all just a few things go and enjoy the game rather than the competition to prove someone else wrong. We are all here because of what we have in common and we spend more time focusing on the niggling things we disagree about. It’s just easier to agree to disagree and move on with no hard feelings.
BC all club sites or blogs have a corresponding column named injury list which represents the present injury players and thier expected return dates. But i think we dont have that.
please try to add that too.
bluewinner,
You are right,
But I want that pathetic loser called ‘scott_sinc’ who was callig some of us ‘plastic whores’ to learn his lesson.
well i dont hav a prob with anybody here , i hav said it a thousand times that i never start any such fights ,nor do i indulge in swearing or abusing unless somebody ELSE does it first!!!!
If scott_sinc is extending the olive branch , i m not embarrassed to take it , but seriously everyone who comes to this blog or is a regular knos how much i love Chelsea!!!
Thru thick and thin and wins and defeats i hav been here , i m even not a mercenary like some reds accuse , i hav supported CFC from 2001 , wat really bugs me off is ppl posting things like -wh****, pro****** , plastics etc , get over this childish stuff!!!!
And BC before everything else ban the ones impersonating others , it shldnt be a big deal as i kno u can see the IP address of those posts!!!!!ppl like those shld not be tolerated , they r a disgrace not only to football but to the world as well!!!!
Cheers everyone
JOEBLUE
Different opinions must at all times be celebrated. The personal insults tho are not needed. I agree with the Ban, BC. By the way, M_D should accept the olive branch and lets move on.
Mour is at the chore of the disagreement tho. What a powereful man Mour is. Is he not truly god? Hehe hehe, that for laughs guys.
Mourofsame,
Read my last post on the previous topic “Chelsea 1 – 1 Man Utd: Blues Brilliant, Still Beaten! ”
And you were a referee between me and scott_sinc claiming my defeat?!!! LOL
I think the foul language makes for interesting interpretation of those characters that visist this blog.
Let them use their foul language and we can get a true sense of the type of people were talking to.
I’ve only discovered this blog a couple of days ago and am loving it. Keep up the good work becasue you’ve got me addicted mate.
[...] moderation becomes quite a task. 10 good quality comments are lot better than 100 cheap comments. I promised to regulate the comments/users but there is this thing called ‘time’ which I don’t have much and as a result, [...]
