huntycfc, I see you weren't around here when we discussed all this in May when Chelsea got beaten by Liverpool once again. You are telling the same old nonsense.
In his first season with Roman's money even Ranieri took Chelsea to semi-finals. It's not an achievement.
As for Porto, lady luck smiled to Jose once in his life for his hard work. Nobody expected anything from Porto, there were no pressure on them, and they just killed their opponents with their (oops Jose's) negative football and when they couldn't do that they were saved by referee's mistakes like Scholes' disallowed onside goal in quarter-final or many disallowed one-to-ones of Morientes and CO. against Porto goalie in the final game stopped by off-side whistles when the score was 0-0 an 0-1.
Chelsea is not Porto. Other teams know what to expect from Chelsea and Jose.
Why didn't we have cover last year? Because Jose was too naive to think that we can compete in 4 competitions without a cover. Again Jose's fault.
Why we couldn't score against Liverpool in 2005? Because Jose's prime goal is not to concede, so he couldn't teach his players how to score against teams like Liverpool. Again Jose's fault.
His faults go on and on and you brig them as excuses for our failure. LOL
If you're not gong to sit there and say that we're definitely going to win it next year then don't say anything. Because I say that we are definitely not going to win it next year.

I'm going to follow on from yourself Ashton. M_D you say that Mourinho is not the man to win the Champions League and he never will for Chelsea, but yet this is the same man who defied the odds and steered Porto to Champions League glory. Now I'm not going to sit here and say that we're definitely going to win it next season and we're going to blitz the domestic side of things as well, but this is the same man who has steered us to two semi's in 3 years. One in which we were horribly denied of progressing and, if we had done, I am pretty sure we would have overcome AC Milan. And I do believe that the strain of losing many key players and playing 60 games in a season where we were playing with 70% of our squad at any given time contributed to our demise against Liverpool last season.

If we play like we have done in previous seasons, with the cover that we have brought in for all positions and the quality that has been brought in (Malouda and Pizarro namely, and possibly Alex), I do feel that we will have what it takes to push even further, and if lady luck is on our side as well even win the Champs League next season. We definitely have the talent in the squad, and we have proven winners within the squad as well.

ashton, you need a proof that you are a clown?
If Jose wins nothing for the next 2 seasons everyone who supports him here will be against him. You doubt it? Just ask others.
And if everything is about Roman's satisfaction and his money what the hell are people discussing here in this blog for more than a year?

m_d you seem to miss the whole point. jose has won enough. even if he wins nothing for the next two seasons fine enough. why do u think, if he does not win CL, he should go? roman is fine with him, it's his money, Roman's money and not fans' money. even if no one turns up for the game or no one buys merchandise, roman can still run the club. why are you jumping up and down???

Hey guys,
I liked very much what joeblue wrote. Bravo, joeblue.
There are only 3 of us in this blog who think that Mourinho's time has come. Me, joeblue and Manish.
I read here people turning our attention to Arsenal who have been playing attractive footy and yet won nothing. My question is: do they have players and money we have in order to win tropheys? No, they don't. Another question: is Arsen Wenger the only manager who can make a team play attractive? No, he is not. Why don't you turn our attention to Ferguson who has been winning everything by playing attractive footy?
Okay, Jose has had everything within him (brain) and at his disposal (money) to win all domestic tropheys. But does he have enough brain to win the so called holy grail, The Champions' League? My answer is NO. The only chance he can win it if he stays at Chelsea for too long, I mean by trial and error. There's no chance that this man can win the deluded trophey when around him there are guys like Benitez, Ancelotti and Rijkaard. He won't win this trophey easily if he wins it at all. I can assure you that Chelsea is not the team to win next years CL. So, if we won all domestic tropheys why do we need him? Now it's time to go for Europe and entertainment. And it's clear that Jose is not the man for this.
I'm afraid that we'll lose Robben to Real Madrid. That will mean that Jose swapped Robben for Malouda. LOL

Joe is quite poetic ,nice stuff . I like the " dead and dusted " stuff.

Me ? I'm a JM man .He " IS " Chelsea at the moment . Yes I like pretty football too. But ya gotta win too. Both is good .And hope we see EXCITING football this season.

By the way Manure's so-called beautiful " football can be a bore too. They do the same stuff over and over again. Rather have ballet moment like KaKa rather than the hectic-at-the small teams as much as we can Manure stlye.

Hey BC I just had an idea for a post... How about a post comparing our players to the best players in the world?? And not just in positions, but in certain situations... Free kicks, penalty shootouts, etc... I'm sure it'll spark much debate and be an interresting topic overall.

Very very well said, Mourofsame. Couldn't agree more. You don't remember how Real Madrid played football from 1955-1960, but you know they won the CL 5 times in a row. That's what people know. To win is better than to be flashy and stumble, again Chelsea vs Arsenal being the prime example over the last few years.
How can you say JM can't win us the CL?? You are no judge of that, none of us are. I'm sure you're familiar with the situations in which we've been eliminated, with the Liverpool goals (or lack of them) and such. I'm not saying we deserved to win, etc. We haven't yet. But with a bit of luck we certainly could have been in the finals of the CL 1 if not 2 times.
Wait, if this season we get eliminated in the SF, then you'd have reason to say something.
And JM has won it before. With Porto. So why not with Chelsea?
