Chelsea Bid For Daniel Alves | Barca To Bid For Lampard

Here it is. All that you wanted and you always wanted. Chelsea have made a 14m pound bid for Sevilla right back Daniel Alves. Though we we seem to have some competition with a small club called Real Madrid, reports say that we are about to clinch it. This could be a cash deal or a deal that includes Khalid. Either way, I’d be so relieved.

Alves is a brilliant allround players could be a vastly improved version of Diarra – great pace and superb skills, very effective in attack but not the complete defender as such. Not trying to undermine his capabilities but his attacking instincts do reduce his defensive attributes a wee bit that he can even be used as a right winger. I’d say Ashley is better at left back than [tag]Daniel Alves[/tag] at right back, you know what I mean?

Guardian Unlimited’s Sid Lowe is obviously a fan of Alves:

But then Dani Alves is no ordinary right-back. He has played at right-back, right-midfield, left-back, left-midfield, central midfield and in St Petersburg last season even played up front – winning a penalty and providing an assist. He plays everywhere – and in the same game, too. He is, says this morning’s AS: “Three players in one: a central midfield playmaker with a winger’s soul who plays at full-back.” He is a one-man band, a phenomenal athlete who screams and tears round the pitch like a hyperactive child, a Roberto Carlos for the right. Only Alves can defend. In fact, he can be a right horrible little bastard when he wants to, diving and kicking and tugging to his heart’s content. It’s no coincidence that as well as topping the assists charts, he leads the way in yellow cards and fouls. In short, Alves can do everything.

Also there is this bid on [tag]Royston Drenthe[/tag], the Dutch teenager who had a great U21 Euro Cup. He is also a left back. If we end up getting both Alves and Drenthe, that might mean exit for Ferreira for sure. You might already know that [tag]Geremi[/tag] has moved to Newcastle. Good for him and good for Sam.

The Sun says that Barca would bid for Lampard today and quite funnily also that Chelsea would reject the bid. It’s strange sometimes how the Press always are a couple of moves ahead when it comes to publishing news. I wonder how the free-flowing high-skilled team of one touch genius with style, that is [tag]Barcelona[/tag], is waiting in the queue for a dry, straight, hard labour Frank Lampard. With this kind of hyper tension on the Lampard situation, our ex-boss Ranieri has given us some relief that he won’t be interested in Lampard for Juventus.

I’m slowly getting this feeling that [tag]Lampard[/tag] might be on his way out. Though our [tag]Malouda[/tag] deal is still in the balance (as Madrid entered the fray), I see that [tag]Jose Mourinho[/tag] has been hinting in more than on way that he would go back to his tried and tested 4-3-3. Considering that we have already addressed our problems with defence, in 4-3-3, he can certainly lots of options such as Essien, Mikel, Makelele, Sidwell, Ballack and Diarra. With Essien, Mikel and Sidwell occupying the centre of the pitch, you have a midfield that works like a machine, never loses possession and wins the ball with vengeance. Add to this, a forward line with flair consisting of Drogba, Sheva, Joe Cole, Robben, Kalou and possibly Malouda. This is futher supported by the enterprising wing backs in Cole, Bridge and possibly Alves who have between them a solid central defence of Terry, Carvalho, Tal and Alex. So, it is quite possible for Jose to see life after Lampard. Let’s see, everything should be clear by the end of this week.

Robben deal is still not through yet, [tag]Real Madrid[/tag] once again proving to be villains. So, that’s Real Madrid being a thorn in three Chelsea deals. I honestly and unbiasedly feel that we would come out on top in all three deals by beating Madrid but it appears we might lose to their arch rivals. We have clinch all these four deals very soon. If we have Lampard, Robben, Alves and Malouda, we are very much on course to regain our title.

Well, you are kidding me, I am telling you , if Lampard left Chelsea and Chelsea just plan to count on underwent-sergury Ballack for next season , we should forget CL and EPL.
Sidwel needs time for sure, to be honest with you I think he will encounter a future like scot Parker’s.
without Lampard, we are unarmed in middle.
Robben , I like him, I have 5 robben shirts, if he goes to Real I will burn all of them because i hate Real Madrid. if Robben leaves chelsea, nothing wil happen provided chelsea captures Malouda, otherwise we should keep Robben at any cost.

2. robben 16 - 4th Jul

nooooooooooooooooooo .. robben don’t go
i think robben is better than malouda .. for sure …

i hope he doesn’t go anywhere … man i love that boy ..

look at my name .. robben 16 .. that proofs that i love him most in chelsea

3. DrogbaIV - 4th Jul

first screw Barca, second i would hate it if khalid would leave us he has alot of potential.

4. Adonis - 4th Jul

DrogbaIV… where was the potential last year? I didn’t see any of it…
I think the fact that Robben is 23 makes him indispensable to CFC. If he goes, we are a weaker team, period. It’s hard to think of a better left winger.
And BC, about Barca wanting Lampard… I think they realize they lack a Lampard-type that does the dirty work and is the solid 55 match performer. Ronaldinho has his ups and downs, and so does Deco (whom I like more than the Brazilian). Neither are as good defensively. Iniesta comes close to Lampard but isn’t as powerful. Xavi isn’t as powerful either… And let’s not talk about Messi. His Maradona antics are too aggravating. So they need a Lampard to make their midfield click better. And we know he could do terrifically as the glue between all the creative minds in the Blaugrana.

5. Maysam - 4th Jul

I agree with you guys, Robben is better than Malouda.
DROGBAIV : Khalid has potential , but he is not good enough to play in chlesea.

6. robbenfan - 4th Jul

i think quaresma is a better option than malouda

7. SG - 4th Jul

Yea Robben is better den Malouda n i agree wif DROGBAIV boularouz is a very gd defender its jus tat Jose Mourinho put him in the Right Back when his origianl position Centre Bak n remember when in CL Chelsea vs Barce it was Boularouz hu keep stopping Ronaldinho n even Ronaldinho praise him for being a gd defender

9. Manish - 4th Jul

no way Riquelme with Ballack..they both are as slow as snail….Kaka will do for me…LOL….Deco is a feasible option though….or we could have tried for Arteta or Cahill…but they both have signed a new deal…

17. Adonis - 4th Jul

Good news from the copa, Pizzaro scored twice yesterday, both with his head. It’s good to have another threat with the head… Now we have Terry, Carvalho, Pizzaro, Ballack, Drogba, and Sheva… Hope I didn’t miss anyone. But that’ll terrorize opponents on corners, won’t it??

18. joeblue - 4th Jul

i hope Lamps does not leave until we find an able replacement , i dont quite agree with u BC , i think life without Lamps is a possibility but we cant do a hell lot without somebody like Sneijder or Vaart coming in!!!

I mean he scores so much and takes all those assists , believe u me guys i hav nothin agnst Lamps , he is an awesome player in his own categories but overall he has far too many weak points , the current midfield is not good enough for creativity , Mikel stays too back in midfield , Ballack lacks creativity , Essien is more of a motor , i see no replacements and until we find an excellent one getting rid of Lampard will be suicide!!!

19. Maysam - 4th Jul

Torres joint Liverpool .
Benitez is crazy, he is the man who whenever wants to tlak about chelsea, tlaks about money.
somebody tell me, How many striker has he bought from his arrival to Anfild ?
Luis Garca, Cisse , Fowler , Harry , Crouch , that dutch player Kuyf ? , Morientes , Baros , now Torres :) ) he is the worst player-chooser ever.

20. Maysam - 4th Jul

add bellamy to this list :)

21. bluegal - 4th Jul

I would say again that we can do without Lamps in midfield. When you make players feel indispensable, they get greedy.Lamps isnt the only 55 match performer in chelsea and truth be told, he never holds the ball for 5 mins at a stretch;always wanting to pass it to the nearest person and so rarely gets injured. Thanks lamps for the memories at chelsea but its time to go. People, realise this:Lamps cant be better, his form is steadily declining.Make money of him now.

22. Midfield_Decider - 4th Jul

bluegal,
absolutely agree with you!

23. Rear Gunner - 4th Jul

Drenthe isn’t a right back. He started out on the left wing before it was suggested he be utilized as an attacking left back. When the Euro 21′s came along, Drenthe started out as left back again but because of injury to Ismael Aisatti, was moved to the left wing where he had begun his career, this being where he excelled. Very good player he is too, hardworking, and with a dangerous cross. If Molded the right way, he could go on to be one of the game’s greats in the future.

Alves and Cole would give you two really strong attacking full backs, a real danger when going forward. You’d get most use out of Cole by employing him in this way, as would you Alves, while there are otherwise more defensive minded full backs. I’ll assume then that Mourinho is planning on having his full backs go forward a lot.

24. chelsearulz 11 - 4th Jul

lamps + robben can’t leave, lamps holds together midfield & robben has realy progressed the last few years he got goals left at cfc yet 4 sure

25. blue champion - 4th Jul

oh ho apologies all. of course drenthe is a left back who can also play as a left winger. i wasnt drunk but tracking so many transfers in all teams that of these teenagers, sometimes such right/left errors do happen. I’ve corrected it in the post.
