Transfers | Rumours | Thierry Henry Keeps His Word

Theirry Henry leaves Arsenal and comes up with a more ridiculous reason than Shevchenko, for his move. The Big Four sans Chelsea is very active in the transfer market and the next couple of weeks should finalise their squads for the next season. Holland U21 wins the U21 European Championships beating Serbia U21 4-1 in the final, thereby retaining their title.

Thierry Henry, on his high-profile colleagues, after the Champions League final loss against Barcelona in May 2006:

Everyone was talking about Ronaldinho before the game. I didn’t see him today and I didn’t see Eto’o.

After 8 fantastic seasons, Thierry Henry is finally gone. Even with his annoying arrogance and planet-sized ego, I cannot deny that he has been a great player with incredible skills. Not sure if Arsenal would be too worried (I heard some gunners fans saying ‘good riddance’) by his exit, but surely Premiership would miss him. Something tells me that Cesc and Arsene would also follow suit, sooner or later. 16 million pounds is ridicuous price for Henry, even at this age and his medical bill. It’s like Arsenal would give Henry plus 1 million and get Darren Bent from Charlton. With genuine motivation (read playing for Barca), Thierry surely has atleast 3 or 4 more years in him.

While he did justice to himself with a reasonable expectation of winning something, he could have surely avoided the talk about the private discussion between him and Arsene about Arsene not willing to extend his own contract. His parting words have been more demoralising for the fans than his exit in itself. He feels that the club is in troubles waters and the captain has opted to jump from the ship. Compare this to Nedved and a host of other Juventus players who stayed with them in Serie B last season.

Arsenal-No1.JPGI’m not sure how he would fit in Barca. Ronaldinho and Eto’o have their own relationship issues and so are Eto’o and Rijkaard. In this line-up of outspoken superstars, another outspoken superstar joins them. Should see how it goes after the honeymoon period. Now Rijkaard will have to change his successful 4-3-3 formation to accomodate Henry, Messi, Ronaldinho and Eto’o. Unless Ronnie agrees to move to the left midfield or something, preserving 4-3-3 is gonna be difficult. For all his talk about being excited about playing with Henry, he should be accepting adjustments and Rijkaard must have worked out all this. Finally, such a loyal gentleman he is, Theirry Henry has ensured Arsenal are at No.1 in the table, when he left the club!

The Holland U-21 team has won the U-21 world championship. The winning team also included Royston Drenthe, the right back Chelsea are after. While a lot of these Dutch youngsters can be in the radar of the top european clubs, is anyone worth their place in the other finalists Serbia U-21? It’s not so strange that the Press writes only about the popular ones and Serbia is had only discussed.

No news on where Tevez would go. Real Madrid, Arsenal and Liverpool are all as interested as West Ham themselves for his services. Liverpool have made a quite retreat after Atletico wanted 27 million pounds for Torres, who would not go for even 17 million, given his current form. Rafa is still trying his best to land Yossi Benayoun for about million pounds. Arsene Wenger sees the circle of life as he would move for Nicolas Anelka, with the proceeds from the Henry sale, whose sale proceeds was used for the signing of Henry in 1999. Both Man Utd targets - Tevez and Anelka - are now nearly ruled out for Fergie which takes him to Fabio Quagliarella. Riquelme, on loan to Boca from Villareal, has just won the Copa Libertadores. The 28-year old could join possibly West Ham. The signings and transfers of the last few weeks are promising a very interesting battle next season where top 4 won’t be able to dominate as much as they did in the last few seasons.

Yes, I know you’re not seeing any Chelsea-related rumours here, barring the Drenthe one. The fact is, there is none. I’m sure we’re not done yet. We still one genuine right back of class and a centre/right back. With respect to forwards or midfielders or goalkeepers, I believe we have the best lot already.

By the way, any guesses on who’s the man in “top pic” today? Not so difficult, I’d say.

Anyone having any info abt Robben’s future…I hope he remains with us..but if news of Malouda coming to Stamford is true(not very sure though as they rejected Diarra + cash offer) then I guess Robben may be on his way out…I would be very sad if this happens…I would like both of them to be at Stamford(so greedy I am LOL)…..BTW I think 18m for a 17m kid is way too much…how come Arsenal gets kids for pennies and Chelsea has to part away with fortunes….

Some other prominent ones associated to Chelsea…
Quaresma, Miguel,D Costa,Drenthe and list is a long one….

Though I would settle for

There’s no way we got Torres, john clark… Atletico want 27 million pounds for him, which is way too much for his current form. And no deal has been done with Lyon. Not yet, anyways.
Manish, 18m is not too much for Pato. I saw him play for Corinthians, and this kid is worth it. Not only is he immensly flashy, but he delivers the goods. This kid is a mixture of the two Ronaldos… A great talent, worth whatever price we pay.
Arsenal’s kids are nothing compared to him. That’s why we have to pay a fortune.

Robben\’s agent (Robben Sr, his father) has already confirmed that he is not going anywhere and he is very close to signing a four year contract with Chelsea. In short, Robben is here to stay.

It\’s true that Chelsea\’s offer for Malouda was rejected and as far as I know Torres is not on our radar. While \’Alex(Pato) the Duck\’ is about to sign, I dont think we need Torres now, even if he comes for free.

Torres to Liverpool for 17m plus Luis Garcia! Also Malouda for 17m, and his last signing of the summer will be Simao for 12m

Personally, I would love to see a bid for Benny McCarthy from Blackburn, though I can’t see how they would part with him. Considering his history with JM from Porto glory, I think he’d be a great addition to our CL tests next season. Also, I was really impressed with Lita’s form in the U-20s. Maybe swoop for the youngster? I don’t know.

Any news on Alex from PSV? I think he’s definitely key for our defence, now that Khalid’s going away (thank God).

Can’t wait for the season to begin!

Hi everybody

We don’t need Malouda, we need Quaresma from Porto. He is young, fast and can dribble.

Also Saviola is the most underrated player in the universe. Barca doesn’t need him because they have Et’o, Messi and Henry. So he is free now. We need him. Accept that he is better than Torres and is free.

Jose is a stupid man if he doesn’t go for these two players: Quaresma and Saviola. Though it’s not only Jose who decides whom to sign.

Another thing I want to mention is that even if our squad is one of the strongest in the world, we are not going to win the Champions League next year too unless we replace our attacking midfielders with a creative midfielder. Personally I would like to see Van der Vaart from Hamburg instead of Lampard. Watch him on youtube. He is a pure genius.

Cheers.

They are not small compilations, there are large ones about Van der Vaart.
If youtube can lie then find me such compilatons about Lampard where he dribbles, shows creativity and magic. You won’t find.
Bayern Munich wanted to sign Van der Vaart but he rejected and prefered to stay at Hamburg.
It is a fact that Van der Vaart is better than Lampard and Ballack.
Give that man the Chelsea’s midfield of Essien, Mikel and our wingers then he will be unstoppable. Watch him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKYIsVEO0CM (Here what he does in between 00:54 and 01:03 only a few players can do in the world)
As for Quaresma, don’t you know that Robben is injury-prone? We need Quaresma as a back-up and if he is better than Robben then we can play him in the first 11.

M_D Lampard does not dribble as much as van der vaart but vdv does not score screamers like lampard, does not play 60 matches in a season with consistency like lampard. there are positives and negatives about any player. given an option i’s choose lampard over van der vaart any day. if he is so shitty as people think, barca wont be after him year after year.

trublu,
First of all, midfielder’s main role is nor scoring goals but possesing the ball and giving passes.
Second, how do you know that Van der Vaart wouldn’t be scoring as much as Lampard and playing as consistently as Lampard if he is at Chelsea.
Lampard is so consistent at CFC because he doesn’t play with ball for a long time and doesn’t even get it as much as the likes of Van der Vaart, Kaka and Ronaldinho. Whenever he gets the ball he releases it or shoots. So opposition rarely tries to get the ball from him and therefore rarely fouls on him. Moreover, Lampard plays in safe conditions because he is supported by the world-class defending midfielders as Makelele and Essien and world-class wingers as Robben and J.Cole. Why Lampard is not so efficient on international arena if he is so good? He is not that safer there as in Chelsea. Give all those conditions to Van der Vaart then we’ll see your screamers, consistency and evne more: creativity, dribbles, posession and THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TROPHEY.
Sorry mate but you are wrong on this.

I just wonder where Lampard dissappears on the nights like the Champions’ League semi-final?
Look at Kaka who almost single-handedly eliminated Celtic, Bayer Munich and Manchester United.
If we have money and if we want to be the strongest force in the European football we need someone like Kaka or Ronaldinho, not Lampard.
We need Van der Vaart.

Maysam, for whoever Jose goes this summer he’ll be sacked very soon. Hopefully next year when his hard-working uncreative machine will fail again to win the Champions League.
Just look at him. When there is free Saviola he signs free Pizzaro. When there is Quaresma he goes for Malouda.
Mourinho and Creativity are opposite to each other. As long as Mourinho is at Chelsea there’ll be no creativity. If Roman wants creative football he’ll get rid of Mourinho.

M_D, forget about midfielder’s main role. football’s main objective is scoring goals and winning, which is achieved perfectly with lampard. we dont need van der vaart and for that matter we dont need any more midfielders. as regards disappearance on nights like the champions league SF, that’s not a good scale. theirry henry was always a flop when it came to the bigger matches and there are so many other such examples. kaka played well individually this season and all you guys are gaga over kaka. why dont you compare lampard and kaka in the season 04-05 and 05-06. your comparison very very weak and it’s like saying drogba is a better striker than henry because drogba played better than henry THIS SEASON.

Your words: football’s main objective is scoring goals and winning, which is achieved perfectly with lampard.
Like we need Lampard to beat teams like Fulham in the Premiership, and Valencia in the Champions League.
We have such a strong squad that we don’t need Lampard for only what he is delivering us. Do you really think that we would be in a lower position without him all these years? With all our money?
His absence will not even change Chelsea’s game. If he is absent then we have Ballack who is at least a little bit more creative than him. We have Essien who is again better than him. We have wingers.
But, we could have much more if we replaced him with someone like Kaka, Ronaldinho or Zidane.

I am quite confused on Lampard issue…I really never like his game but then he also scores a lot and assists a lot….but one thing is for sure we need a more creative midfield for playing ‘beautiful’ football and winning also, moreso that we have Ballack too…having two players of this type in midfield is really not good…but it also brings another issue….for a creative midfielder to be a success, striker also needs to be of that sort, one who can sense timing and placement of passes and who can also himself unlock defences…not Drogba types who are more dependent on power, unable to run even few meters without tripping….M_D you says that Quaresma can be used as a backup….I don’t think a player of that calibre will be satisfied with that..and then he will also be disgruntled and we will have another SWP….instead we need to churn quality players out of youth system…and given recent youth signings Chelsea seems to be following same route and its the best one I think.

already we are growing to be a galactico team. i want no more stars in the team. see what happened to real madrid and what will happen to barca. for the kind of game chelsea plays, we cannot afford to miss a player of lampard’s calibre. the kind of creative game that you want, may not quite possible with Chelsea now that’s because jose’s system is different. if you can see the sublte differences in football, you’ll realise that. chelsea’s lack of creativity is not because of the players but because of jose. but i stand with jose, i love the chelsea game as it is and he has been winning wherever he goes, not without a reason. and finally, for european success, no magic touch is required - it’s a myth. what made Chelsea/Man Utd lose the semifinals is only the fatigue and nothing else.

Ok here I am again.
First of all, I respect to all ideas. Everyone has different idea in soccer world and that’s why I love this sport. I read all and I would like to put forward my idea about topics.
1- Midfielder in Chelsea: I totally agree that Chelsea needs a dribbler and a fancy player in the middle of the field, the player who can shows some tricks when opponents close the games. I should admit that Lampard and Ballack don’t have that virtue and neither does Essien. But Mourinho won’t bring a player with those qualities because Chelsea has enough midfielder and Mourinho does not like having a big squad, there is no free space in Chelsea for a big player anymore. I am sure coming another big midfielder will destroy Chelsea.
2- Lampard: I just can say, ‘ARE YOU KIDDING ME’ . how come do you say Lampard is good because of joe Cole, Robben, Maka and Essien. I just suggest watching games when Ranieri was Chelsea Coach. Lampard has some negative points and some positive points and so does Van Vart. By the way, you cannot rely on one clip and judge about players, hoever i am sure you did not.
3- Saviola and Benny: Mourinho won’t buy them because as I mentioned he does not like having a big squad.
4- Savila or pizarro: I believe Pizarro is better than Benny and Benny is better than Saviola. Honestly, I like Benny better than Saviola. Listen to the reason. Chelsea always plays with one striker and two players behind the striker. That’s jose style. Now we have three world class strikers, and that’s enough. that’s why we don’t need Benny and Savila anymore. Let me tell you why Benny is better than saviola. As far as I know, Saviola cannot play as an alone striker. He is accustomed to have another striker beside himself, so he won’t be successful in Chelsea where he has to play alone, but Pizarro is strong and is able to do that.

If if , Lampard left chelsea and chelsea bought Van Vart, that would be Ok . but buying Van Vart and having Lampard and essien and Ballack is a big mistake. Since Lampard means a lot to chelsea, and they won’t sell him. so Chelsea should not buy Van vart. by the way, can you imagine what would happen if lampart left chelsea nad Van Vart and ballack were not able to show theri real quality. that’s what happened to Ballack in his fisr season..

Trublu,
You said fatigue?
Was it fatigue in 2004 semi-finals too? Was it fatigue in 2005 semi-finals too? Was it fatigue in 2006 when Ronaldinho and Messi taught the Chelsea squad and Jose how football should be played? Why couldn’t your beloved Lampard rescue Chelsea on all those occasions if you consider him at the same level as Kaka?
Trublu, you are a laughing stock.
Maysam, when I say that we should replace Lampard with someone like Van der Vaart I mean we should get rid of Lampard. By the way Barca is trying to sign him. The wisest thing is to sell him now when BARCA wants him. He doesn’t even suit to Barca’s game and when they learn that he’ll be a regular benchwarmer there. Though he has a chance to shine there because Barca already has enough of creativity with the likes of Ronaldinho, Messi, Et’o and Henry. It’s we who don’t have it.
And yes, it’s Jose’s style to bore us. And even if we get a creative midfielder Jose won’t be able to use him. So there is only one chance we have. To wait until the next year when he’ll be sacked. Personally I’m sure that Jose won’t win the Champions League next year too. Only God knows how his boring machine is going to beat the likes of Liverpool, Milan and strengethened Barcelona.
Sack him.

Hi guys long time no speak my pc is finally back, THE MIRROR have quoted malouda as saying “he wants to play with chelsea next season” and that “i would love to play with drogba again” i think were close to signing him as he has persoanlly told his club he wants a blue shirt next season which will possibly push looserpool arse-nal and milan out of the running, after all we were only £2m short of the £14m they want for him.
also we have been scouting a 16 yr old dutch player named Patrick van Aanholt, apparently very promosing and a good prospect for future!
Looserpool look set to sign torres with Garcia stating he would be willing to go the otherway! (bad news for defences all round if u ask me! altho rafa dnt know his arse from his elbow lol).
Geremi is looking at a newcastle move chelsea wont give details but iv heard from a good source that this is move has a very strong appeal to Geremi!
Also Ian Wright (SWP’s Father) has said Sean would not return to Man Shitty under the managment on Sven Goram Erikson. good news for us (in my opinion as i like his pace and determination) but im sure some will disagree.
Also iv had enough of People blatantly making stuff up to look knowledgable! were not interested in who knows the most we just wanna know whats factually happening not what u want in ur dream team!!!

Maysam, continue to believe but Pizzaro is not better than any regular striker of the top 10 teams in the Premiership and Spain. He is just a good bench-warmer. 2 days ago I watched Peru-Uruguay where Peru won 3-0. Not only Pizzaro couldn’t score a goal he was awful.

Danski blue, you want to know what is actually happening? Ok, I will answer you. What is actually happening is that Chelsea under Mourinho is going down the drain.

No, I don’t like Capello. He is efficient and boring like Mourinho.
I don’t mind for Mourinho to stay if he signs creative players like Van der Vaart, Quaresma and Saviola but he’ll never do that.
Hiddink or Scolari can be a good replacement. Both will do.

ps: I like Ancelotti the most but he won’t come to us.

i know what ya saying fella and u make good points, but are u aware of the pompy “co-manager” Grant (ex-israily national manager) is “on his way” as director of football, chelsea have not commented on this, but reports say mourinho was not happy about his appointment as he was used as redknaps no.2 in his previous job!
My opinion but, this cud spell the end of mourinho the same as benitez was the end of Roy evans when they shared looserpool for 1 season, i think mourinho’s own arrogance and self obsession could force himself out of the club, Grant is a good friend of Abramovich… lets watch this space!
