Non-Chelsea Transfer News & Other Stuff

Days are moving at snail’s pace for Chelsea. With three signings already done, all that we can do is watch other clubs make their signings and take a snipe at them. It’s kind of annoying to see clubs still busy with their transfers while we are all but done. Anyway, it’s their business.

Transfers | Rumours | Thierry Henry Keeps His Word

Theirry Henry leaves Arsenal and comes up with a more ridiculous reason than Shevchenko, for his move. The Big Four sans Chelsea is very active in the transfer market and the next couple of weeks should finalise their squads for the next season. Holland U21 wins the U21 European Championships beating Serbia U21 4-1 in the final, thereby retaining their title.

BlueChampions Upgrades

More upgrades in BlueChampions. I’m sure you’d have seen the horizontal menu bar on top. They are all functional now and you would anyway try all of them. One new feature now is the poll centre, where there are about 5 or 6 opinion polls at any where you vote and also keep visiting to see how people have voted. Certain features that existed but were nearly hidden such as contact form, fixtures, statistics etc can also be accessed from the menu. Hope you like them!

The Chelsea Report Card: 06-07

Thanks to Joeblue for reminding me of this piece, which has been long overdue. I’ve tried to rate as many players as possible here. This is supposed to be a reflection of the matches they had played this season, for instance, if someone played only 3 matches and were fantastic in all three, they’d get a good rating despite the fact that law of averages would have caught them later on. I’m using the BBC rater as that seems to be a good standard for rating football performances. Here we go.

Real Madrid Campeones | Champions League Possibilities

Real Madrid are champions again, and deservedly so. You can make out that I’m happier for Barca losing than Real winning. With Barca dominating the Spanish scene, I started to feel sympathetic about the los merengues. With multi-million superstars who had won almost eveything you can ask for, from champions league to world cup, it is quite natural, but not fair, that they are not highly motivated or committed. Capello deserves a round of applause for their turnaround. While there are still discussions about whether the goal difference is a better tie-breaker than the head-to-head record, you cannot take the title away from Real Madrid now.

50000, African Nations Cup, La Liga & Other News

50,000 – That’s the number of hits BlueChampions crossed today. Quite a milestone for a blog that was started by one Chelsea fan from Asia, only about 8 months back. I thank you all for for your respect and support you’ve shown for this blog. I live with my family and also have a busy day job due to which many times I wasn’t able to spend enough time on the blog but you guys made it very lively with your firebrand discussions. Thank you for reading whatever I write and more so for returning to the blog and being a regular visitor. I think the next 50,000 should not take another 8 months.

Lord Stevens Reveals!

Lord Stevens has released his report on the illegal football transfers in the Premiership over the last few years. His report highlights 17 transfers involving 5 premiership clubs that includes Chelsea. As per the report, the grey transfers of Chelsea were Drogba, Cech & Essien. Before you get all too worried, let me clarify that these have featured there because the agent involved has not been very co-operative. On the other hand, Lord Stevens report has appreciated the club, officials and the players for being co-operative during the investigation. What will happen now? Nothing. Keep enjoying your football.

Electric Yellow – The New Chelsea Away Kit!

This is it. The new Chelsea away kit of the season 2007-08 which would be available in the stores from 28-June. I really really like this shade of yellow and they call it electric yellow (gotta nice ring to it). It’s very flashy and eye-catching and with this kit, picking out team mates should not be difficult. I thank my sixth sense that made me choose yellow for the titles in this blog, which now looks thematic. By the way, someone help me with a patch with this electric yellow kit for my ‘Winning Eleven’!

The comeback, rumours & reviews

I’m back once again. The net connection still stays screwed but the techie in me set things up with a brilliant idea of connecting my gprs mobile to my laptop and using it as the modem. Goddammit! It works! It’s not quite flying like my broadband does but at least I can type stuff in a notepad and upload in bluechampions in just about 5 mins. There were quite a lot of transfer rumours last couple of weeks and also the photo finish at Spain.

Big Debate: How & Why Chelsea Lost The Title This Season

During the season, we always talked about why this was a completely wrecked campaign. We’ve experienced all those Murphy’s laws in just one season. I’ve just grouped below the major reasons in my opinion, that have resulted in Chelsea ending up 6 points lesser than Man Utd. Also I’ve made this a sticky post for some time.
