Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea: Have Some Mercy!

How unfortunate? Weren’t we all hoping for us to nick a goal even in stoppage time? Man Utd had the generosity to gift us a 2-point cut but we weren’t courteous enough to accept that. Our players looked absolutely tired. They have been playing twice every week for so many weeks now. It’s not that they didn’t want to win this. It’s not that they didn’t know about the importance of winning this match. It’s just that they couldn’t do it this time. Anyone who thinks that the race is over, has not been following this season well.

Jose’s mood swung from furious to frustrated but after the match was over, he was much more emotionally balanced. Same with me. I was so damn gutted at the final whistle, but at second thought, our boys fought hard, real hard, they badly wanted to win. They have been pushing themselves hard week after week and most of them would long for a break. Even if there is no match in the midweek they might enjoy that as a break. That’s not to be, as we are one of the very very few teams that are in the final lap of all tournaments.

I cannot ask for more of my players. I think that what they are doing is absolutely amazing. We played against a team with fresh legs and without any kind of pressure. I’m not saying we deserved to win. Over the 90 minutes Newcastle played well and deserved a point.

We should have got atleast one penalty. And now, this is not an excuse but a statement of fact. Sibierski had a real match plan of undoing Terry in the most unprofessional way. His plan was very simple - hug John Terry as tight as you can that he cannot move. It was so sickening to see that. Jose was annoyed about the state of penalties - the ones Chelsea dont get and the ones Man Utd dont get punished for:

It is not possible to have a penalty in favour of Chelsea. We should have had a penalty, involving Stephen Carr, it was a clear penalty. I have the right to speak. I think nobody can punish me because I speak the truth and I am not saying the referees are not honest. But yesterday was a penalty and today was a penalty - and if somebody wants to punish me for that it means the end of democracy and we go back to old times.

Jose is not one to give up now. After all, the gap remains 3 points, with another 4 games to go. Jose too feels bad but nothing much can be done now.

It was a chance missed to close the gap. But at the same time we had an away game and Man United had a home game and at the end of it the gap between us is the same. I do not think it is a drama.

When we lost the first and second choice keepers on the same day and when we had to play 17 league matches with our third choice goalkeeper, I would have taken these with both hands - a 3-point gap by the third week of April, Champions League semifinals, FA Cup finals and Carling Cup. I’d be ungrateful if I dont appreciate the efforts taken by the team amidst all the injury and boardroom drama and still have us in all competitions.

You might call me ridiculous but my faith and hope simple refuse to go down. I still think we can win the title. If we dont, fine enough - to win a hattrick of titles in a league like the English leaue would be a huge insult to the competitiveness of the league and the other also-ran top teams.

See, Chelsea Football Club has been in existence for 102 years now. If fans remained fans only if win anything, Chelsea would not have too many fans! As a supporter, I badly want them to win. If they lose I get upset but I go on to live my life, so are the players and everyone else.

Not the best result I hoped for, but I’d continue to support my team. How about you?

Chels 0 0 Newcastle.. Manu also got a draw which means..
We only managed to add 1 point and the point diff is 3 now..
It’s a missed opportunity for Chelsea as we’ve to wait till manu lose or draw again.. i’ll hav to admit this result coz our performance didn’t really deserve the three points. And.. Newcastle deserve credit for becoming the only third EPL team this season to stop us scoring.
C’mon CHELSEA!! Bring on the true blue!

I have nothing to say. I am trult dissapointed. We have just blown away our best chance of winning the premiership. A pathetic display which we have no excuse for. Realisticly there might still be little hope but personally after todays display I am sad to say that I give up on the premiership. Lets try to move on and focus on the champions league, and fa cup. Hey, we may still end up with three? thats good enough for me! Blue4lyfe……

What a time to be ordinary!
If it had been up against a better team we would’ve lost.
I need a place to go and shout Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhh !
Why now ? How now ? Where now ?
No good dissecting the game either . Won’t help at all.
I’m telling myself to calm down, be cool-headed.
But this time Arrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhh !

So if ur bragging abt JM and our foolish players is over BC , u hav to get urself deflated , Quadruple , u make me laugh like mad , and pigs fly like rockets???? We play the ugliest and ****** brand of football ever seen , ‘Manu r inconsistent…….blah blah blah!!!!!! So what r we?????

Atleast they entertain their supporters unlike our arrogant and pig-headed coach who neither gives a damn abt the supporters or football , just the number of trophy’s he can boast abt!!!! Sack the damn man and please Roman give us a new coach who knows football , its beauty and its worth!!!!!

If ur team sometimes looses playing well , u can still look at the positives, but watching CFC was worse than listening to my Grandma , JM really , really ***** , he might win us all the trophy’s in the world , but i maintain noone can invent the shit he has!!!!!

Why did Carvalho not play ???? So we hav started to hav a choice between Puyol , Cannavaro , Nesta and Terry???? Or Essien has truly become the elite defender one can dream of???? Why does not J.Cole play????? Why is A.Cole always rested for that good for nothing , son of a ***** Bridge?????

Diarra needs rest but Lamps dosent????? JM is the most arrogant and ******* of a man i hav ever seen , he deems it his divine right to win every match and as if he does a favor by just tirning up for the match!!!! We need big changes and fast if CFC hav to be saved from this demon , we need EXORCISM!!!!

Zubinj9 seriously get real, Lampard is by far and away Chelsea\’s main player, he runs the show for us and there\’s no one better than him. He had a bad game today, but seriously name me a player who didn\’t. They were all piss poor and no one looked bothered. We\’ve got to remember that our players aren\’t supermen and can\’t perform brilliantly week in week out, we\’ve just had too many games. In all honesty I feel really let down, because the one time the boys needed to be up for it they weren\’t, and they should have been. Newcastle are crap if we\’re honest, but we didnt look like scoring once. Joeblue, f*** off!

Calm down guys,
I was not frustrated at all because I lost hope of the EPL long ago, after the Liverpool defeat in January.
You all should accept one simple truth: Jose is neither a magician nor a genius.
I can count contless number of his elementary mistakes all through the season. Yet he is still a good manager.
He has always used to say that the biggest game was the next one. Yet today he played Essien in Carvalho’s position. Chelsea’s game also showed that they thought more of a defending than attacking. Sheva was rested. Lampard again played. Clearly there is a mess of everything, planning of no-planning. Was there the Liverpool game in mind or was the mind somewhere else? Foolish thing.
Personally I don’t believe that this man (just a good manager Jose) can win us the Champions League either. You guys keep your hopes high but I don’t hope. Instead I hope that some day Chelsea will have either a genius or a magician to win us TREBLES and QUADRUPLES.
Cheers.

BC

great article though it was a short one. you just said what i had to say. let’s back the boys when they need us the most.

joeblue & midfield decider

you must be rejoicing. i’m sure you feel happier to see us lose so that you can slate them than we win. if we win all the trophies, you’ll be disappointed becuase you’ll have no face to show here. what kind of supporters you guys are? sure you’d support only the winning teams and if your team starts losing then you get frustrated and move on to another team. it took me 40 years to see chelsea win the title for the first time and we won it again in another year. i’d say this is enough for my lifetime. you kids are no supporters. if you’re a true supporter you’d support your team, manager and players whatever may happen. liverpool has not won the league for more than 15 years. i wonder how you’d feel if you’re a pool supporter or may be you’d switch to team that wins. just get over it boys.

blue is the colour
football is the game
we are all together
winning is our aim

C’mon you Blues! We (true fans) are behind you.

This is still winnable, but we’re relying on Everton and City again, but, most importantly, ourselves. The next four games have almost got to be wins now. (Maybe even a draw at Arsenal is acceptable if United lose to City or Everton first…)

WE CAN DO THIS.

one of the things that converted me from the American NFL football that I grew up on to the real game is the fact that there are 3 to 4 meaningful trophies per season. Chelsea already has the least of these, the Carling Cup. There are two more where they clearly control their own destiny, the FA and the Champions League. Winning the Premiership again this season with the three knock-out trophies would be wonderful and is still possible. But, who among us would cry and wallow in sorrow if the Blues whip Liverpool en route to JM lifting his second European title? Add to this an FA cup victory? We have a right to be upset and disappointed that Chelsea blew an excellet opportunity to close the gap on United. But there are far too many reasons to have hope.

I was looking for a pumped up Cheslea after ManU’s slip but it couldn’t be so…was a very disjointed display…we couldn’t create a single genuine chance in entire match….that sums up the scenario.

It was such a nice chance to shut up those ManU fans but we couldn’t avail it…now we need to score an emphatic win in CL match against LPool. Carvalho must be fit for that match otherwise our defence will be weakened and Essien will not be able to fully enforce himself.

Firstly Anonymous , whats ur problem , i wld luv to give u a good kick right up ur arse but i resist this temptation to mess with a low-minded nincompoop idiot, u dont like my comments dont read them , i dont post them for u , go get a life sonny!!

Secondly Trublu …. criticising the manager and the team does not mean u dont support them, what do u think we shld just sit , relax and not point out what the problems, and mistakes are???? Well if u do , thats ur personal choice and idont hav a problem with that , so why do u hav a problem with my views???

U talk of Liverpool yet they r the most successful club in the EPL , and were winning everything until 1990 , and really u see Liverpools pain of 15 years and not ours??? We won the title in 50 years!!!! 2 seasons of domination is the utmost u can think of??? Wanting ones team to win more is a crime then every footie lover , except for some idiots like u , r criminals!!!!!

Manu hav won every title for the past decade , so does that mean they shld gve up their title ambitions???? And if i hurt someone m sorry but thats my view and its a free expression blog(aint it???)!!!JM made mistakes and every person having even a spoonful of knowledge knows that , there is no reason to blame the ref if ur team dont carve out a good chance in the whole game!!!!

Friends, Romans and Fellow Chelsea fans

Nearly 24 hours after the debacle last night the hurt has started to heal for me . I am now looking forward to Liverpool on Wednesday.
Let’s hope Sunday’s hurt will carry us over Liverpool.

My faith in the manager and players is still as before even tho I was really frustrated with team selection, tactics and so on yesterday .

Whatever the results this season we really have done well given the circunstances except for yesterday. So let’s leave yesterday behind and cheer the team on …. And that does not mean I am not unambitous, I am like hell.

Nothing ever came easy or straightforward for me in life so I do not expect it will be smooth sailing all the time for anyone else either. And that goes for CFC too.
Lighten up guys , I have a feeling the night could get darker before the dawn breaks .
Keep the Faith

Yes everyone must have his /her say , Joeblue
Or it will be the death of democracy , right !

LOL LOL
Anyway, we couldn’t just snatch away the cake ( the EPL crown )so soon ,yesterday from the baby ( SAF ),when he retired he would only remember the last coupla bad years without a major cup, go senile in six months and die probably of a heart attack.

And Cronaldo and Rooney both would both go loony and become drug and wife and child abusing midfits if we cruised to an easy win and took the EPL crown from them even when they had been aided by easy penalties galore for them and none against.

Half the Manure team would be so heartbroken /spirit broken they would never touch a football again shave their heads and join Tibetan monasteries.

The Glazers would have to file for banktuptcy cos hordes of fans start to realize that even without conceding any penalties all season, even with all that foul play and being given softie penalties all season their team is hopeless and stop buying tickets.

Joeblue is right as always.

Now we don’t have Carvalho, Essien, Robben and Ballack for the Liverpool game’s 1st leg. From some perspective it’s good that the game where we will miss so many 1st choice players is at home. But it’s good only if we can draw at least and if these missing players will return for the 2nd leg.

Good luck.
