Andorra 0-3 England: Obviously, They Couldn’t Have Lost This!
England wins, finally. I didnt get to see this match but did catch up with the essential stuff. First news first - Lampard got his wrist bone fractured and could not play this match. In fact, he’d be non-starter for the weekend match against Watford. Hope he’ll be fine for the Valencia matches. For all those who think Lampard was only reason for the current situation of England’s international football, today must have been a real treat. He got injured and did not play. When he did not play, England won and that too with Gerrard scoring twice. Now you’ll have listen to some jokers talking about dropping Lampard from the national team until England loses to some tiny nation with a population of 10,000 inhabitants.
Let’s put this result into perspective. Whoever plays or not, if England does not win against a team like Andorra, I’m really sorry. So, I hope the jerks dont go berserk about this England win and how magnificent Gerrard is, in the absence of Lampard. If Lamps had played tonight, he’d have scored a couple himself. Before this match, Andorra had lost all the 4 matches played so far in this Euro 2008 qualifiers and have conceded 19 goals and scored just 1 goal in the process. Under these circumstances, England ended the first half goalless and the possibility of an intolerable draw was looming large in the horizon. The match for England, apparently was not as easy as the scoreline shows.
Elsewhere, Israel defeated Estonia 4-0, where Chelsea’s 17-year old Ben Sahar scored twice. You might know that Ben Sahar is quite a hero, back home in Israeland with Jose looking to play him in the first team on a regular basis next season, he can become a darling of the Blues too. Chelsea’s youngsters like Sahar, Sinclair, Mikel and Diarra have been playing brillliantly of late, but always the half-baked Arsenil youngsters get the limelight. I dont know why!
