Israel 0-0 England: Dull, Boring & Indifferent!

See, I’m not a great fan of England’s international football. But what makes me follow their games and root for them is the fact that there are about half a dozen Chelsea players in the England team. These Euro qualifiers seem to be just a continuation of the World Cup, where they played horribly boring football and got thoroughly deserved humiliation.

Though there are lots of games to go in the qualifiers, the promise is lacking, not just the results. I wont say England played well and lost unluckily or something. England were so poor that I thought Lithuania played better against France. While there is a hot chase happening in the Premiership, the key players from Chelsea and Man Utd were not ready to strain themselves that was all too obvious. It is quite natural that the club bosses would have told their players not to come back with an injury at any cost. You could see that no one stretched themselves and their below average work rate was absolutely insufficient to beat Israel in Tel Aviv.

For a team of England’s quality, it should be possible to win a match with less workrate too. Thats what Chelsea manages to do every other week - playing in low gear and still winning. Chelsea changes gear only when there is a real need for it. Otherwise they just conserve their energy for the more important fixtures and go on winning against smaller team without sweating. But we all know that Steve McClaren is not Jose Mourinho.

Lampard had some clear cut chances which he did hit on target but it wasn’t quite his day. Terry did his job well and could take quite a lot of credit for the clean sheet, alongwith Rio. But ,getting cleansheets was never a problem. Having scored just 1 goal in the last 5 matches make the problem very clear. And these are just the qualifiers where you play countries some of which you dont even know where they are!

The other reason why I was watching this match was to see Ben Sahar in action. Brought on as a sub with just 20 mins to go, he didnt get too much service as Israel was contentrating on just a point than three during that period. He was quite decent, didnt lose possession when he got the ball, showed glimpses of his pace and skill and overall he was quite good. On the reverse leg in England, I expect Ben Sahar to play full 90 minutes.

After the match no one was happy - manager, players, fans etc. If there were happy people, they were Israel supporters and the English Press. With every match England fails to win, they have a field day, asking all probing questions and looking for blaming and finger-pointing or some piece of controversy. Steve McClaren sounding and looking like George Bush does not help his cause.

And here, click this image for some surprise. Yes, he was in the stands watching this match! You can await some bullshit like Roman wants unsuccessful Steve McClaren to replace the most successful Jose Mourinho. Sick media. Anyway, there is another away match on Wednesday against Andorra. If England fails to win this one, the sky may really fall down!

england is never going to win a thing. it’s all hype. they’re a poor team. greece plays better football than them. cant blame it on steve if players have no interest in winning anything for england. best thing is to drop all big stars from chlesea, manu and liverpool and give chance to smaller club players as only they have motivation to play well and win for the country.

no way. it’s all mclaren’s fault. with such great players at his disposal, i just dont see how sh*tty his management and tactics are? he should go. steve coppell will be a great choice when steve is sacked. i dont see mclaren taking us to the euro 2008.

England for me hav always been an over-rated team , with hardly any quality upfront except for a fit Owen, Rooney is disgraceful , he only scores for Manu cuz Ronaldo creates hundreds of chances for him , he hasant scored in the CL for the past 3 years , yuk that explains his ability!!! Johnson has just made to the fringes at 26 and dosent seem to an earth-shattering forward!!! All the others r the same - short , quick and weak!!! Defoe, AJ etc!!!

England hardly hav some good wingers except for Lennon , an upstart Downing , J.Cole who is not even a winger!!! And their keepers r yuk as well , what is Robinson compared to Cech , V.D.Saar , Casillas etc???? Nothing but piled up rubbish!!!

LOL LOL
I didn’t even think of watching that match.At most 1-0 . LOL
Mc Laren’s tactics ( if they’re to be called that )are so conservative and predictable that even a rank amateur like me could’ve made it a lot more watchable.
He’s even worse than Sven, being so stuffy and afraid to change stuff during a match. The problem is that he changes before and after games not during them. He just subs people one for one , doesn’t really change the shape of the team or play.If u need to attack , do it outright , if you’re gonna kill the game early do so withe tactics from the start. Have plan A and B and C .
And then ranting and raving at the players after the game . Why not at half time , have a rousing, motivating speech, scream whatever ?
His body language tells me he’s not that self-confident or that brave either.
A far far cry from our JM , Maybe Manure can have him manage them after SAF. LOL

Why didn’t he have a big bulldozer of a forward like Hesky who doesn’t score that much I know ,but can plough a way to the goal and others can score ?
Maybe the players have privately lost faith in the bloke.

And the FA is responsible too.
U see they always choose someone from a middle of the table club who was a former player of great individual ability but with not so much stature or motivation or leadership skills
( Keegan. Hoddle etc…. ).
They don’t wanna go for someone hungry and on his way up like O’Neill or Dunga or someone like Curbishley who has the respect of everyone . Or people with loads of experience like Scolari/Capello/Lippi/Gullit/Hiddink . Who cares if they’re not English. EVen SAF isn’t.

I hope that MacLaren resigns quick cause it’s only gonna get worse. An example of someone made a quick getaway is Klinnsman for germany knowing that the semi’s at the Wcup was going to be his high water mark(Clever man, Although I suspect he’d do a lot better with England
even tho he might be doing it via remote control from California )

Maybe the clubs are punishing the FA ( by having their players play at 25%) for not accomodating cup dates and too many pointless friendlies.

I just watched the replay and read some reports ,MacLaren’s awful and mindless tactics are now causing Lamps to get a bashing by heaps of Liverpuddle and Manure and Arsey fans.

Well I ,the rank amateur will now dissect the Mac Laren brainlessness.
He plays Carragher and Gerrard out of position.
Carragher at right back, a player who never supports the midfield or joins in the attack with crosses or what ever.
And Phil neville was outta position too.And can’t do long balls across to Lennon.
Gerrard who should charge all around is stuck to left winger position, and was not even switching sides with the gradually ineffective Lennon.
He has Lamps and Gerrard hump balls to Rooney and AJ , who can’t hold up the ball or do anything else with it in the air, they can’t play together or alone .
Has the team play at such a slow pace.
The only player to have had a decent crack at the goal was Lamps.
And he’s not there to clean up the mess and then defend like hell so that Gerrard can go off doing his solo thing that no-one else anticipates correctly.
So the whole thing basically is a joke. And Mac Loser makes switches at the 80th minute. Shithead.
Can’t he read what going on in the match

He only makes switches before or after games when so and so is not available. But never does during the game like taking off the ineffective right/left backs and throwing all the attackers on and at the goal.
Even I know when to do stuff like that . U see I am a fan and student of Jose Mourinho .

Thank God we do not have a dolt like that as our manager and and Heaven protect us always from shitheads like MacLoser.

I went shopping in Tesco rather than watching England. England will get better when Joe Cole is fit to join them. Andorra vs England is like Wycombe vs Chelsea, so Lamps should score one or two. In any case, please please please John Terry… Take it easy, Chelsea can’t afford to lose you!

England’s football is like Indian Cricket we wont win anything… I read somewhere “I would prefer Arsenal winning a Throw-in than England winning a world cup”…

The England national team under McClaren plays a style so devoid of creativity it’s hard to ever see them succeeding in the way they want so desperately to.

It’s not the heart or determination that’s missing from their game, it’s the fun.
