Portsmouth vs Chelsea: 03-Mar-2007

Best team for a crucial weekend!

Crucial day in the Premiership for the Carling Cup champions. It is one of those days that can change the complexion of the whole title race. In the first such weekend, we beat Liverpool and Arsenal beat Man Utd, in the next big weekend, we lost to Liverpool and Man Utd lost once again to Arsenal giving them a double. Now, all that is needed is a win or a draw for Liverpool, while we beat Pompey away, to set this Premiership on fire.

We still dont have Khalid, Terry and Joe Cole. Now the situation looks a lot better due to the fact that Lassana Diarra has been a star in the right back. It’s high time, Jose had selected the team purely based on performance. While he says that the team picks itself, I dont know how Ballack features in every playing eleven? We all know that he is a great player and he can certainly come good just like Drogba, Essien etc. Probably, Ballack should be played in all cup matches including the champions league and he should be kept out of the Premiership until he is completely ‘in’.

When we played them at the Bridge, we won rather comfortably though we did not make the best of our dozens of chances. That’s when Sheva scored his first goal at Stamford Bridge. Even more interesting thing was that the two Chelsea goals were scored by our dubious duo – Sheva and Ballack. The important factor between us and a big win then was the Pompey goalie James. He had one of his best games of his season and he can only get worse today.

The Liverpool vs Man Utd match would over before we kick off against Pompey. If Man Utd drops points, it will be great motivation for us to go for the kill. Looks like a 0-2 or 1-3 in favour of Chelsea. And if Man Utd lose points today, mark my words, the title is for Chelsea. Got to hurry!

United are certainly demonstrating the sheer luck of champions. It’s the luck that we’ve shown for the past two seasons, and I think this season it has begun to run out.

Still, United’s next few games are Bolton and Blackburn at home, with Pompey away. We should be winning our next four or five games as they are hardly the most testing of the season.
With Scholes now banned, OGS injured, and Larsson leaving, hopefully we can get right back in it during these next few games.

Obviously, the most important aspect is a win against them at Stamford Bridge. If that doesn’t materialise, then the title race is most definitely over.

I refuse to give up hope yet, and even if we have lost the league this season, there’s still two cups to play for and next season’s league. KTBFFH!

We still need to keep the faith and hope alive, all we need to do is win every single game till the end of the season and i can girantee that the title will be ours, man u barely slpped off the hook with fulham and liverpool and hopefully there luck will run out so as soon as they drop points chelsea will be there to capatalize and close the gap.
