Another brilliant strike by Super Scott!

Chelsea has agreed to extend Sinclair’s loan stay with Plymouth for another month. Now Sinclair would be with Plymouth until mid-March by which time, he would have played another 9 matches. After scoring that blinder of a goal, he scored another top class goal, which probably prompted Plymouth to extend his loan.

In injury news (now synonymous for team news), Wayne Bridge has pulled out of the England team due to a thigh injury and not sure when he would again be available. It does sound like it a very minor one and he could be back for this weekend. Obi Mikel is also thigh-injured and he would be aout for 2 weeks, which means he would miss a couple of games for sure.

Jose has allowed Terry to play for England, though not for 90 mins:

I have an open communication with Steve McClaren and we have spoken a lot, so he knows he is ready. He knows he needs special care in terms of therapy and he is not ready for 90 minutes, that is for sure. But that is only because of his physical condition so he can still start with JT and then decide to take him off. I am certainly happy for him to be involved because I want to see England do well.

England faces Spain in a friendly on Wednesday night. The contribution of Chelsea to the England team is such that the injury situation of Chelsea has a direct impact on England’s fortune. The two first team left backs of England – Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge are not available. Key player Joe Cole is unavailable till April. Captain John Terry can play only a short period of time.

Elsewhere, Rafa Benitez calls Everton a small club and reconfirms what he said. Everton fans, coach, Board and also the fans of many other clubs have condemnded Rafa’s choice of words. After this issue, there have been too many discussions on what makes a club big – if it is only history Everton is certainly not a small club and if it is not history, Liverpool has not won the league for about 15 years now – too long a period for a big club to not win the league. May be the talks of the take over and the rumoured transfer budget of 100 – 150 million pounds made him feel every other club smaller than Liverpool.

The winning of the World Cup was only a temporary respite in the seemingly ugly world of Italian football. When there were match fixing controversies in the Serie A, some people who think Serie A is the best football league, did say “what’s the big deal about fixing? nobody died!”. Now someone has died. Though a late reaction, it was quite a proper decision by their authorities to shut down football indefinitely. They have also said that those stadiums that do not meet the security requirements, will have to stage the matches without any fans. The news is that only 4 stadiums in Italy meet these security requirements. Interesting times ahead!

Home match coming up this weekend against Boro. We have a score to settle with them for this season!
