Liverpool 2-0 Chelsea: What next?

World-class under-performing ineffective subs!
Nine points down now. What next? All that we can hope is that Arsenil would beat Man Utd so that the gap remains 6 points. Our makeshift central defence can cope with smaller teams but we were badly exposed against these bigger teams. One thing was very clear - Chelsea’s performance was full of desparation than hunger whereas it was Liverpool who had the motivation and hunger to win this match. Rafa got the better of Jose in their 100th premiership match.
Murphy’s laws are coming true. When something can go wrong, it will. How else can you explain Carvalho getting injured just before this match and Robben getting injured during this match.
After the match, Jose said:
There were definitely mistakes with people not adapting to their positions. I was waiting for 15 or 20 minutes to go by with no goals conceded and the confidence arriving.
But when the team is very fragile on the pitch and mentally not so self confident it is difficult. In the second half I think we played better but Liverpool defended well and were full of confidence. They knew they could be adventurous because our defensive line is fragile.
He still instills some confidence:
We have played all these games without central defenders, you can cope at home, in the Carling Cup, FA Cup, even in the Champions League it is easier to cope than the Premiership - but against Kuyt and Crouch, no - I knew 15 days ago Bellamy was not playing in this game.
Rafa Benitez was unsure if they played well:
We played well. I don’t know if it was because they had problems but we played well.
Fair play to Liverpool. They were the better team and they fully deserved to win. May be, it’s time for Roman to realise that the internal troubles due to non-football reasons are only going to make worse. We can hope that Man Utd will slip up but this is an unfortunate situation to be in, to expect someone else’s poor performance to help us.
The way I see it, things were going fine for Chelsea, until Jose’s management was interrupted. Jose and Chelsea do have the quality to come back but we definitely need a lot of favours from various quarters.
If we have to pose any more challenge to the title, Jose should drop Ballack. Our No.13 is proving to be too unlcuky for us. I have never thought a world class midfielder can be such a poor influence in series of mediocre performances by a team. He is a great player allright, but he needs to be where he deserves based on his current form, which is not even the bench. As it happens in a football team, he should fight for his place. Diarra has every right to feel bad but for this match-costing punctuality. The man of Chelsea hopes, Arjen Robben had to just be a part of the continuing Chelsea drama of injuries.
Chelsea’s loss today, though only our third in this premiership, would give tremendous psychological boost to Man Utd. We have brought a situation where even a draw would be a good result for Man Utd. The idea result for us tomorrow, which is an Arsenil win, would make the whole premiership race more interesting as the No.1 and No.2 lose to No.4 and No.3 respectively. The race still would be between Chelsea and Man Utd for sure.
Like our reader RomanHoliday, I’m still having hopes. You can call me whatever, but by nature, I just dont give up that easily, whatever it is. So, it makes it very impossible for me to concede the title. There have been multiple instances in Sports where the unexpected have happened. When Australia amassed 434 runs in 50 overs, how many
people, including South African fans, would have expected SA to chase them and beat the new world record in just 4 hours?
The match is never over until the final whistle is blown. Ask Alex Ferguson. That’s what got him the Champions League!

Chelsea F.C. is in bad form , definitly our team is going the Real Madrid way , but why ?? We have everything : the best manager , the best goalkepper , the best defender , a great midfield and an in form striker . Did i forget anything ?? Yeah :ANDRIY SHEVCHENKO . I love Chelsea so I have to suport everyone at Chelsea but I think Sheva is the problem in our team . I don’t say we have to get him of the ship , but at least he has to give us something for 45 mil euros. To be fair they deserved to win and hope tomorow man unt lose couze if they win the title race is over
, anyone that said the show most go on , to be realists this show won’t go on like we want to . Will Robben be injured for a lond time does anyone know ??

classic murphy’s law is right.
who would’ve thought Carvalho would fall ill AND Robben would get injured inside the first 20 mins.
it is not an issue of lack of transfers either - although one central defender would be good. i do recall jose’s original chelsea squad plans in 04-05 being to have 2 world class players in every position…
9 points would be very tough to claw back. even 7 points is doable, given we have to play them at home.
my feeling is that ballack and kalou should make way for sheva and SWP. also for makelele to come back and shield the back 4 like we did in 04-05 so well. lampard really needs to be the only player who picks up the ball from deep, not ballack.
it’s not over!! it’s only January and we are still the premiership champions.
jumbo.

The race is not over cuz now we wld get players back from injuries , and BC Peter Cech deserves a mention, he was looking his usual self , we will see what happens next match when he gets back his pals Carvalho and JT back , then dare any attack score,
A team can be strong only when they they hav a wall at the back not a porous dam , we can cope with losing Robben(though we need him) ,hey Zubinj9 ur absolutely right ,i posted the same thing months back but it was received with great criticism by many Shev fans, when will he fire????Now is the hour where is his best????
but it has always been said ‘Cometh the hour, cometh the man’
i m waiting for that saviour!!!!!!!!!!

Sheva needs to react (guilty of just loafing around)
Ballack needs to react (guilty of just strolling around)
RA needs to react (guilty of just wishing things get better)
The fans are looking are u guys closely.
We don’t wanna give up our title or the chance to win some more.
But u guys gotta react positively on the pitch and boardroom.
Because of the circumstances and bad luck, being a graceful loser is one thing,
But not showing true fighting spirit ,grit ,and a let’s get at them attitude is unacceptable.
Come on ,
we fans sometimes don’t even care if we’ve lost ( we do but…) but we are always proud to say we went down fighting. Now that is GLORY and Making HISTORY.
Think about it
GLORY & HISTORY
Those two things are worth all the dough u already got in the bank

Yes, Joeblue. Cech truly deserves some special mention. Blame it on the post-defeat alcohol!
And, yes sir. When we have Cech, Terry and Carvalho, no one can pierce our defence.
12. drogballs
Think you guys can consider yourself unlucky to lose so many defenders but I think the people up there should be blamed as well. Failure to plan, plan to fail, as cliche as it sounds.
Did the Special One not see how thin the squad is? When all the first central back got crocked, there’s not enough back up for all the money in the world and hey, no decent center back from the youth team? None?
13. blue champion
Hey Drogballs! I feel worse allowing the scousers to talk after 5 head-to-head league wins over pool.
Atleast we have some consolations:
1. It was not at home.
2. It was not our full team
3. We were not beaten by a bunch of teens
4. We didnt concede half a dozen goals, even with this make-shift defence.

19. bluemood
£30m for a player to score 2 goals in the”worthless” cup. What an absolute waste of space and money. How many decent players would that money have paid 4? Kenyon fiddles while Roman burns!!!!!!!!
Arsenal must win. Go Arsenal !!!!!!
