Sheva and Ballack to score!

I dont expect a second team to be fielded at Wycombe, with some of the first team players yet to show their worth. The back four would be most unlikely set of defenders you would expect play in those positions. Essien might start this match as a centre back along with Paulo.

Lassana Diarra should play unless he misses the team bus or something. I wish Ballack plays at a more attacking role, possibly the attacking tip of the diamond. Sheva should score – whether he gets the service or not. In Lampard’s absence, I would prefer Sheva to take the spot kicks, if any.

Interestingly, it has been an eventful period even though there were no premiership fixtures. Among other things, Peter Kenyon has rubbished the rumours about Jose leaving, and Jose has defended Michael Ballack:

He is in the team because not the fans, the president or journalists pick it, but because I do. Michael has not done anything amazing yet, but he is a team player and sacrifices himself for the team. That is another reason why he plays.

When asked about the media story about players unrest about the inclusion of Ballack, he said:

I know nothing about the story. I have read a few articles like this but I know nothing about it. Reports about problems in the dressing room are not correct. Do we want more from him [Ballack] in terms of performance? Not from him, from everybody. And if the objective is to put some kind of pressure on me then no chance because I pick the team, nobody else does it. Press opinions, other player opinions are not for me. Tomorrow he plays, and I hope it is the first step for him to play his first English cup final.

It will be a two-legged tie. If we win this one comfortably, I would prefer to see Ben Sahar, Scott Sinclair, Michael Woods and Mancienne in the playing eleven. Before that, we have to beat Wycome with some confidence and authority.

For me, a 0-3 result would be sweet enough.
