Let Ballack rest a while!

No excuses this time. We should play both the halves of the match and stop treating every opposition like they are the European champions or something. Wigan will not have their strikers Camara and McCulloch. I just hope we play a high tempo game and sweep them over completely.

Terry is still not back, which might give another chance to dicey Boulahrouz. Geremi should play again. I want Jose to drop Ballack for a match. Let Maka, Essien, Lamps and Robben play. Sheva deserves to play. He was impressive in the last match but was little unlucky. Talking about being unlucky, what do you make of this shot by Lampard?

The familiar Chelsea script this season has been that, we dont score in the first half despite possession. Jose makes half time substitution, he gets Essien in the right back, he changes to 4-3-3 and sometimes later to 3-4-3 and we score a stunner to win/draw the game. The more we follow this script and get successful with that, the more complacent we would get.

Why do we always have to wait for something to happen – the opponent’s goal, a yellow/red card against us, an on-field quarrel etc. Why do we perform well only on a reaction? Why can’t we finish the match in the first half itself? We have enough quality in our team to put the match out of opponent’s reach in just the first half.

All said, do you remember the corresponding fixture in the last season? I had my heart in my mouth as I saw that. Crespo’s stoppage time screamer saved us the blushes as the Champions managed to beat the newcomers in the first match of the season.

If there is one thing I would like to see against Wigan, that is sealing the match in the first half. Do you see a 0-2 in the first 45 mins? Am I the only one who believes that when we beat Wigan, Man Utd will get just a point in Villa Park?
