‘High Scoring Clean Sheet’?

I cannot resist the temptation of thinking about a hattrick of 4-0 wins. West Ham of today is spirited and they have started to play with purpose. They lost to Mindlessbore last weekend but still that does not mean we can sweep them over.

The corresponding fixture in the last season was a pure Chelsea classic. We went 0-1 down under 10 minutes and lost Maniche in the 17th minute. Only a Chelsea faithful (me, included) would have thought of even a 2-1 victory for us from then. But to end this match at 4-1 was incredible stuff. That was one of the many moments in the last seasons, when I thought “that’s why we’re Champions”.

On the team, to drop Geremi now would be real injustice. Ricardo has been playing well too, but I would take Khalid for Carvalho to bring his spirits up. If Khalid plays well against West Ham, we have a pool of rightbacks to choose from, for the Man Utd game. I’ve said this many times now – let Joe Cole play for 90 minutes. I hope Jose hears me.

While Rafa is really confused on where to play Gerrard and that’s a big debate with the scousers, look at Jose, he is freely moving Lampard from right to left and he is delivering match after match. This is the flexibility and utility of Lampard that makes me rate him way better than Gerrard. Atleast I dont see Frank missing a 5-yard pass.

Playing well together, making goals for each other and also scoring for themselves – well, the new story of romance is the partnership between Shevchenko and Drogba. He keeps impressing, Didier Drogba scores once again, this time the lone goal of the match, for Ivory Coast against Sweden in a friendly on Wednesday. While we all know that Sheva has scored in his last 3 matches, it is nice to know that he also scored when he played for Chelsea reserves last week. Looks like he’s hit the road and racing away.

AC Milan bordering on the relegation zone is something unfamiliar for the massive club. This has forced Silvio Berlusconi to make funny statements as he had to distract the press, bring belief back in the fans and he had one solution and he said ‘Sheva wants to return to Milan‘. Sheva was determined not to let any gimmicks affect his current form and he clarified immediately that Milan is past and Chelsea is present and future.

In this season in the league so far, we are the only team to have scored in all games and we have taken the lead in all games (incuding the two losses and a draw). I would like to see Sheva score more than Drogba in the next few games. And also, I’m waiting to see Joe Cole and Robben on the scoresheet. Jose has complained that the Stamford Bridge fans are getting behind the team enough. For a champion team like us, we deserve better support in the Bridge. Let’s cheer them for another ‘high scoring clean sheeter’!
