The hitmen on target !

We were expected to thrash Watford and we did just that. This could have ended in a much more humiliating fashion for Watford. Drogba scored three, set up the other one, he defended set pieces . . . one thing he did not do today was goalkeeping. He showed excellent commitment, days after extending his contract for aother 4 years.

All four goals were of top quality and it’s very difficult to choose the best goal of the match. Despite the hattrick by Drogba, the Sheva goal was my favourite. That was a brilliant weighted short lob by Drogba and the way Sheva chested as he beat the goalkeeper was just pure class. Three goals in three matches for Sheva now. So, we now call him a striker in form?

Boss was very generous in his praise for Drogba:

There is an improvement in his game in every aspect. He is very strong and he looks very sharp. He is great in the air and very strong in defensive actions. He is at the top of his game. Now it is just a question of him staying there for a long time.

At the moment I don’t think there is anybody better in the world scoring or playing like him. He is scoring in every competition – The Premiership, the UEFA Champions League, the Carling Cup. He is playing amazing stuff.

His improvement has been at every level. I don’t like to use the word unstoppable but he is great in every aspect of his game. He attacks the ball, he dominates in the air, he holds the ball well, he is at the top of his game. I never saw a better Drogba than now.

At the moment with the way our midfield is playing, it is easy to be a striker. Our midfield is playing fantastic. Watford play direct football but they know what they are doing on the pitch. If you don’t defend well then you are in trouble but we did very well in that aspect.

We scored four goals and it was quite a good game. We played very consistently and collectively it was a good performance. It was also a positive performance individually. I am happy with the points and the performance.

Geremi is making a very strong case for himself. While Jose chose Boulahrouz, he put pressure on Paulo Ferreira and now that he has chosen Geremi in two consecutive matches and he has also played superbly, Boulahrouz is now under pressure to perform well when given the chance. It is nice to see this healthy competition for the the wing back roles and also the wingers role.

Our midfield was just ruling the pitch by breadth and width. Now the real problem seems to be the insufficient playing time for Joe Cole and Robben. Both came in as subs for 20-25 minutes neither could really make an impact, Joe Cole in particular. Robben desparately needs a goal and that shows in his game. SWP, once again, made a mess of his 15 minutes and I dont think he would be used while we have Joe Cole, Robben and Kalou in the bench. SWP has no one to blame except himself.

Though we are said to have crushed Watford, after we got to 4-0 we relaxed instead of banging in as many as possible. Cheers guys! Scoring 8 goals in a week and conceding none is supreme form and confidence. Now let’s bring Alan Pardew back to earth.
