Gary Neville ’68 (assist Paul Robinson)

After 85 caps for the England national team, Gary Neville scored his first international goal against Croatia on Wednesday night, but he did not celebrate. Well assisted by Robinson, Neville scored in the 68th minute, which sealed the match for England.

Anyway, I feel really really sorry for Robinson, who had made some very fine saves till then and also for England. But let me also tell you that this was the most hilarious thing I saw in quite some time. I’ve seen such things only in Winning Eleven games where your mate would back pass to you and if you dont expect that and if you’re the goalie, this sometimes happens. But Robinson didnt have a controller to break!

Credit to Croatia on the way they pressurised England. See how they crowd the near the England box and Gary Neville could have done better things but looked like he was very determined on getting his first international goal!

Any guesses on what Steve McLaren was writing down?

If Robinson needs consolation, he can see the below video which shows that he is the not the first one to be embarrassed this way. This video below shows some of the worst mistakes by the goalkeepers, and well, you can see some legends there!

One interesting thing to notice here is, that Roy Carroll’s bobble against Tottenham did not stand as a goal, despite the ball crossing the line by about 2-3 feet! That was the most attrocious decision of the season!
