William Gallas - What a disgrace!

gallas_redcard.jpg
Gallas threatened to score own goals and get sent off!

Gallas has been speaking out on Chelsea and Jose for the last few days and how he was ill-treated in Chelsea with two league titles. After truckloads of his garbage, Chelsea wants to make clear to everyone why he was sold and they have shared some truth about Gallas. I appreciate the courage that Chelsea had in publishing this, despite the possible threat of Gallas going legal on this. I guess he wouldn’t as I strongly believe that he is a freak. Chelsea FC issued the below statement on William Gallas:

Chelsea FC believes it is important for our supporters to be made aware of the full facts regarding William Gallas and the lack of respect he showed to the fans, the manager and the club.Despite leaving he continues to attack José Mourinho and this cannot be left unchallenged. Chelsea made William Gallas a very substantial and attractive new contract offer to stay towards the end of last season. This was rejected. The issue was purely one of money, despite his public comments that he wanted a new challenge, to play abroad and so forth. These were just a smokescreen to cover up the fact he was hawking himself to the highest bidder.

Having failed to secure his demands, his position became increasingly intransigent and unacceptable. He initially refused to play against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi-final last season in an effort to force an increased contract offer. As is now well documented he refused to join up with the team in Los Angeles during pre-season, despite agreeing the dates for his return as the other World Cup players did, with the club. When José Mourinho generously offered him a way back into the “family” after the American tour, this was thrown back in the Chelsea manager’s face. The manager told him that, even if he did not agree a new contract but returned to the “family” and abided by the rules, he would still select the best players available and would not punish him playing wise.

However despite meetings to try and resolve the problems Gallas made it clear to José Mourinho he would never play for Chelsea again. Before the first game of the season against Manchester City, when only four defenders were available and John Terry was doubtful with an injury, he refused to play. He went on to threaten that if he was forced to play, or if he was disciplined and financially punished for his breach of the rules, that he could score an own goal or get himself sent off, or make deliberate mistakes. Clearly this was a totally unacceptable situation for the manager, the team and the club.

Chelsea’s interests had to be protected and a solution was collectively agreed. If a satisfactory deal for Chelsea could be found, Gallas would be sold. If that did not happen it was agreed by all that Gallas would have to fulfil the terms of his contract. Chelsea has a wage structure in place that is valued not only on the contribution of the player to the manager and the team, but also on a player’s respect for the club and contribution to the promotion and image of the club off the field. Every player is expected to play their part in this. William Gallas rarely recognised these responsibilities. He also failed to recognise the role José Mourinho and Chelsea played in helping him become a double Premiership champion for a player whose only league title prior to that had been in the French Second Division.

What disgrace he is to the club and to the game of football. If the above is true, he deserves to be banned by the football authorities. This will set a good precedent for all those players AWOL type of players. Such ingratitude having won two back-to-back titles for someone who has only won a decond division title before. I’m so happy that he is not here and even more happy that he is in Arsenal! Is Arsene Wenger and Arsenal happy about having a player in his team, who threatened his club that he would score own goals, get sent off and make deliberate errors? I wish he scores more own goals for Arsenal than the goals he scored for us!

GO and learn English first and then talk abt Chelsea. I guess u r so damm frustrated that “ur” Gunners finished way behind last season that u r trying to malign Chelsea. Chelsea have shown they were invincible last year and they are going to continue this. So keep crying in China. Adios

Gunners - beautiful and fantastic? Have you returned from outer space? Kidding.
With the current team and their strategy, I see Arsenal finishing 5th or 6th.

Jenson! Stop joking. You have a mid-table defence even with Gallas. You won’t make it to the champs league next year. I wish Gallas suffers a year-long injury.

Claims like that need to be proven else Chelsea get done for slander. As for him being ungrateful for back to back titles, wasnt he a big part of ye winning those titles ? And what about Cashley Cole. Do you not rate his antics worse than an unproven statement about letting in goals ? And norman, if arsenal have a mid table defence with your best defender for the past 5 years what does that make chelseas ?

If Gallas says Chelsea is lying, let him SUE Chelsea. End of story.

He didn’t win two back to back titles. He won back to back titles.

And Ashley Cole’s behaviour was far worse because it was real, not spurious allegations from a clearly deranged PR department. The Thuram/Domenech statement along with the Gallas one would embarrass the life out of me if I was a Chelsea fan.

Well Norm it wouldnt be the end of the story would it. Chelseas lawyers would drag it out to the end of all time. Its best that Gallas made 1 statement and then leaves it alone, which is what will happen.

@Glooper

Agree that he was a part of the Chelsea’s title winning campaigns. Still, for all that he has done to Chelsea, he left us in a very poor note. He was wrong all along:
1. Went public very often on his position
2. Refused to join the training
3. He was absent without official leave
4. He threatened to score own goal, get sent of etc etc

Having spent so many years in the club, he should have left in a gracious manner like Duff, Gudjohnsen and Crespo while Jose wanted even these players to stay.

If I were Roman, I would have bought Ashley for 20m and put Gallas in the bench of the reserves team.

Hey Drogballs! I thought you\’re a Chelsea fan (Didier Drogballs?). Anyway, I have added your link in my blogrolls and thanks for adding mine in yours.

On this topic, that\’s the funny thing about being a fan. Invariably, you and I are biased. We\’re supposed to have difference of opinions and that\’s good. If there\’s none, then it\’ll all become boring, isn\’t it?

On why Chelsea had to go public on Gallas’s uprofessional behaviour:

They had to explain why Gallas is leaving. He is a very good central defender and when we have bought Boulahrouz and planning to buy Ashley, Gallas would surely have played in centre this season. When Gallas is very good and he is allowed to play where he wants to, Chelsea had to answer to the fans on why they had to sell him.

I find nothing childish here. When he made all this own-goal nonsense when was a Chelsea player, this was not brought in public as the club had other means of disciplinary actions which are internal to the club and player. Now that he has done all this garbage and he has moved to a new club. All the unprofessional threats he made would go scot-free? I wouldnt have just let him go. I dont find one good reason why Chelsea should not have gone public.

Does anyone know that Gallas held Arsenal on ransom for his salary & as a result he is now the best paid player there after Henry. Also, Arsenal have never offered a 4-yr contract to a 29-yr old! At 31, great players like bergkamp got only one year extensions!

Hi,

I think its a negotiation went bad situation.

I was thinking that Asley Cole would anyway feature in Chelsea’s team this season. Gallas would have thought his entry as a kind of threating to his place.

Now that Gallas in Arse, i don’t think that he is going to shine there with the Henry centric play. May be he can feel safe in Arsenal and can walk and talk like a big boss as he will enjoy a secured job there. (No competitions for him man there… Just play and get paid kind of situation)

Hey, i will be very happy if Gallas accidentally scores a own goal in his first match. If this comes true i think we had this topic to speak for months…! !

Blue Captain is right. May be, William Garbage was not ready for competition as he would have to fight for his place, with Jose’s rotation policy. Despite Jose’s frequent praises for him, he might have thought that he may not play all matches and all 90 mins.

you dull twat

Tell me exactly what arsenal are doing wrong? they get players for nothing, build them up to a world class standard, play the best football on the planet (dont kid yourself please they really do), have one of the best ever managers in football history…you know its true. Strategy wise, i think arsenal play unrivaled attacking football and chelsea are not even close in their teamplay, all about packing the midfield with dirty so called world class players.

chelsea, how much money have you wasted on your x11? Must be over £300 mil? teams like chelsea are ruining football, driving up transfer prices and wages. If gallas was so money orientated dont you think he would have stayed with your lot? do me a favour, F*** OFF
