Defoe, Crouch, Elano - 2 apiece

England 5 - 0 Andorra

England were completely dominant in the qualifiers for the European Championship 2008. Though I couldnt see the match, I could follow it courtesy Soccernet and Youtube. Defoe scored two and I’m happy for him. He is a good striker and I want him to perform well.

Steve McLaren should be ecstatic as nothing has gone wrong for him ever since he took over from Ericsson. And Crouch scored two as well. As much as I hate his game, he is proving to be a prolific goal scorer for England, if not for Liverpool. The English dominance was so much that the goalkeeper Robinson did not touch the ball for a period of 42 minutes!

Though some of them did not play in this match, Chelsea’s contribution to the English team is as many as 6 players - Captain John Terry, Frank Lampard, Joe Cole, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Ashley Cole & Wayne Bridge.

Brazil 3 - 0 Argentina

Incredible scoreline for Brazil. Hailed as “the symbol of the new Brazil team” by the coach, Elano scored twice to beat Abbondenzieri while Kaka cleaned up with one in the 89th minutes.

The Emirates stadium was near capacity. If Tevez and Macscherano had signed for Arsenal, probably the stadium would have been full capacity. Still many wanted to have a glimpse of those two knowing that they are now English Premier League players. While Tevez did impress, Mascherano was struggling and had to be replaced at half-time.

I was really pissed off that there was no EPL action last weekend, but atleast it gave me some time to build and improve this blog!
